The BBC continues its decline with headlines like this. Like I said last week, the BBC is in an existential crisis and is alienating its supporters and pandering to people who will close it down anyway. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

'Time for Ukraine to get new president,' says Trump after Zelensky condemns diesel deal

Ukraine's leader had said the deal with Russia to release diesel into the US would help Moscow fund the war.

And the Pope is apparently Catholic…. If they actually went to church, they’d discover that nothing they believe is consistent with Christian faith But that hasn’t stopped people misinterpreting it for over a thousand years

Several member states of the international tribunal, including the UK, say they "strongly disagree" with the sanctions.

The BBC has so utterly lost its way I’m not sure there’s a way back, but there’s got to be as, without it at it’s best, there would be something missing so significant that we would deeply regret its demise.

The prime minister opposes the law - in place since 1985 - and believes there is a case to remove it.

Steve McQueen is a classic but I’ll give these a listen. There are some lovely songs on Andromeda Heights and Crimson/Red too. PM and Mark Hollis are my favourite 80s songwriters - couldn’t make the recent Colour of Spring 40th anniversary concert.

Totally agree. They are being treated as just another political party but we end up normalising views that only a few years ago would have been on the margins. The US shows what happens when organisations abandon their values to engage.

This thread has blown my mind. I’m sensitive to this because my elderly mum is particularly susceptible to scams at the moment and the obvious target for LLMs like this is older people who can easily get taken in by a sweet talking AI bot. I’m sure it’s already happening

Mike Best @bestlaidplan.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

To me it’s the latest of their early stuff and before their early later stuff. The original 4. That’s the dividing line.

I’ve organised various events in Birmingham over the years through Colmore BID so I’m going to see if some of my old colleagues there might put on an event in the city centre as I think there’s a definitive audience for a talk about inventions
