Market forces respond to negative pressure and interest groups have a vested interest in avoiding negative pressure so putting that pressure on when certain political parties or movements are in power will encourage interest groups to avoid funding them.

Appreciate the link. Definitely seems like he's a bad dude, but I'm not sure that's reflective of the boycott movement itself. I wasn't aware of The People's Union or this person at all until now and it doesn't seem to have any effect on the efficacy or values of the protest.
