Chain Saw Boy and the Scissor Babies are putting Americans in danger in ways that we haven't experienced before. This isn't a "wait a while and it'll get better" type of situation. Americans need to grow up, all of us need to grow the hell up or lose everything that makes this thing work.

Like a good neighbor, they don't want to move in with us! 😉

Canada is a sovereign nation with ten provinces and three territories, comparably low debt, and universal healthcare. I think that's pretty badass of them. Also, like a good neighbor, they don't want to move in with us!

Rural Georgia is the absolute worst place to live in during a patriarchy-pocalypse. 😑

I think our separation of powers is freaking brilliant and has served us well, even while it's vulnerable and require diligence to maintain. We're in dangerous territory when those in power don't value it, and they're dismantling it under our noses, and we're acting like it isn't happening.

Remember how in the desert, down by the arroyo, you’ll find dubious patches of pale green, maybe a random desert lily and, impossibly, baby leaves. -Anne Lamott on the Resistance

The phrase "Beyond the Pale" originally meant that you were outside the authority and safety of English law and subject to the savageries of rural Ireland. I get the feeling a lot of us are going to long for some abdicated safety of our own shortly. Rural America can be pretty darned savage, too.

Enough people will be hurt. We know how these people operate. They choose someone vulnerable to take out all their rancor on, and they never let up. Biden drew a line, and I just can't blame him.

This is good; it speaks to me as a writer. I'm going to attend two county Democratic meetings today and I have a yearning to break through the horror that my friends are feeling. We have to punch through the fear and keep going. I can't think of anything that's more important right now.

The tyranny of the "other" is easy to see; it's the tyranny against anyone with power who opposes the leader that's our blind spot. We think it's an aberration when senators, pollsters, or journalists are attacked because it scares us. We've always had someone to hold the line.
