only to reveal the brother at the end in a hospital, now entirely done up like Pin, having taken over his personality completely. Never let your kids grow up to be ventriloquists folks. the boys descent into madness and psychosexual tension is done well here. 7 out of 10 well-paid psychiatrists

As you would expect, Pin survives and, now painted as a person by the son, begins to take over his life, tells him to kill people (unsuccessfully) and terrorize anyone desperate enough to go home with him. The film ends with a fake-out where the sister seemingly kills her brother with an axe,

Actually, now that I think about it, this might be a Jeff Dunham biopic. Anyway, after his father discovers him talking with Pin, his father takes Pin and, because he'll be "late" to something, begins to do 120 in a 35 mph zone on wet roads at night. Yeah, the manic speeding out of nowhere is weird.

In a breaking point where he consults Pin on what to do about his sister getting pregnant, he seemingly lets Pin take over his mind, showing the same ventriloquist abilities his father has, manifesting them spontaneously.

His son begins to become obsessed with Pin, while his sister realizes it for what it is. The girl grows up to be a young and carefree teenager, while the boy becomes increasingly obsessed with Pin, adopting puritanical and narrow-minded worldviews at odds with his sister's promiscuous behavior.

So tonight's entry into SHOCK & SCHLOCK horror is... PIN. This one was a sleeper hit. The premise of the film is that a Dr. uses an anatomical dummy and ventriloquism to teach his kids the facts of life and other unpleasant and obviously traumatizing information, naming the dummy Pin.

Duane's descent into mania was a nice touch, though I was hoping for a happier ending. It just seems like it was missing some oomph and take-it-to-11-ness that Henenlotter put into Brain Damage and Frankenhooker. 7 out of 10 bad mannequin masks

these guys off people trying to blackmail them and have a lovely BBQ afterwards. The bar scene was particularly funny, because how the hell did that guy miss all the people wearing masks... Anyway, the SFX is fantastic, gore aplenty, and even some male nudity (Kevin Van Hentenryck has a nice butt).

Not the MOST disgusting, but up there. The found family of misfits goes around just straight up killing people seeking to hunt them down and exploit them, and I was really rooting for them throughout the movie. It's not often these movies straight up have the "monsters" win, but

as the Basket Case brothers are sheltered by a found family of physically deformed misfits, each with their own personalities and abilities. I will say, though, the sex scene between Belial and "Susan" is some of the most disgusting straight sex I've ever seen.

Tonight's Shock and Schlock Horror movie is another entry in the Basket Case series, BASKET CASE 2. After the kinda meh impression of the second one, I'm actually glad I watched this one. It's much campier, and I honestly dig the found family theme of the movie,

Quickie tonight for shock and schlock horror month, BLOOD FEAST. I picked this up because one of my favorite movies BLOOD DINER is a spiritual sequel to this. But BF is just a kind of run of the mill 60s shocksploitation b movie. Worth a watch if youre a completions but stale otherwise. 5/10 Ishtars

This film deserves its cult status. And It actually has some star power, including a young Dylan McDermott, John Lynch, Iggy Pop, Carl McCoy from Fields of the Nephilim, and holy shit, that's Lemmy from Motörhead in a water taxi... putting on Motörhead music lol. 7.5 out of 10 robot penis drills.

around a single set. It tries for some humor that doesn't really land. Despite all this, there's something charming to it. Also, it benefits from actually killing off the guy you think is the hero and handing the narrative to the Final Girl. This grew on me as I both watched it & wrote this review.

Premise is some scrap scavengers dig up pieces of a genocidal robot that, for weird stylistic reasons, has ties to St. Mark 13? The robot design is kind of cool, and the acting is bad in a good way, but the movie suffers from going in too many directions at once and then being stuck to stalking

Part 2 of SHOCK AND SCHLOCK horror night is HARDWARE. I was on the fence for this one. There's so much going for it, and really, cyberpunk horror should have more entries in the genre. Again, retro-futuristic tech, clunky and slathered in irradiated grime,

to the Trickster and maybe more of a rationale behind the initial murder to kick things off. Also, this movie really drives home how creepy the 'boy watches girl from his window' trope is. I guess it was supposed to be endearing? lol. Otherwise, 7.5 out of 10 disgustingly chugged glasses of milk

your calls for you. It's kitschy and clunky in all the right places. The tension ratcheting is good, the stakes-raising is so-so, and there's plenty of mind-fuckedness to keep you in your seat. Really liked the ending too. The only downside is I wished they would have given a bit more background

the effort of this one. Also, holy shit, the soundtrack. The first thing the Trickster puts in the stereo is Primus' "Welcome to This World" from Pork Soda. Yeah, it's that kind of movie lol. I also really like the retro-future video game tech, including an AI assistant named Igor to dial and hold

Tonight's first part of a Shock and Schlock double feature is BRAINSCAN. Hoo boy, I didn't think I'd like this as much as I did. Love the Trickster character; wish they did a bit more with him. And while the idea of being brainwashed by a VR video game to start killing people isn't new, I appreciate

Honestly, the problem with this film is: 1. It's not A Nightmare on Elm Street, and a scant 5 years after ELM, Wes Craven has been pigeonholed. And 2. The first half of this movie can't find its voice. It wants to be zany and serious at the same time, and it doesn't give in to the zany fully until

Anyway. So a serial killer is offing entire families every night, and our hero's family, save for him and his dad, a cop, get offed. Through traumatic head injuries, he's able to track the murderer down, who reveals when finally caught: SURPRISE, I'm your real dad, and the devil has my back.

Alright, tonight's fare of Shock and Schlock Horror is Wes Craven's SHOCKER. First off, did the NFL help fund this movie? Because part of the premise is our hero gaining supernatural insight through severe football-induced concussions and hallucinations.

had them just narrowly escaping and the cultists dying as they charge a line of state troopers à la The Devil's Rejects, and the director only changed it at the very last minute. That ending would have been so much better, so I'm going to pretend that's what we got. 6.5 out of 10 indestructible RVs

I FUCKING hate that trope. "Well, they're 99% of the way there, but fuckem, they die anyway" is so goddamn unsatisfying and infuriating. Yea, there's some bullshit metaphor about being unable to escape an inevitable evil, but I don't need that in my catharsis movie. The original script of the movie

featuring a pretty star-studded cast helmed by none other than Peter Fonda. The idea of an entire series of counties in the grip of a satanic cult, right down to the children, isn't exactly a new idea (well, maybe in 1975 it was), but the film does a great job of walking the line
