Still Cronenberg's best and most human movie.

I think the fact that Mel Brooks produced both The Elephant Man and The Fly tells us a lot about his humanity.

40 years? That seems impossible.

Excellent soundtrack to an October morn.

While Christopher Lee is my favorite Dracula hands down, this is actually my favorite Hammer "Dracula" movie.

Oooh, maybe this is what I watch tonight.

I feel like I'm having a stroke trying to understand what it's saying.

Ooooh, I hadn't thought of that, but it's an apt comparison for sure

Not the greatest, but it gave the world Johnny Alucard, which makes it a keeper in my book.

He bothers me so much, but alas, I lack the skillset to write coherent flash.

Eh, they can kill me if they want. I've had a good life. All I'd be losing is the bullshit at the end, lol. My daughter will be thrilled to inherit my VHS collection

Thirty years ago that sentence would have been MUCH crazier, ha ha. I'm practically sedentary now.

Explored some alleys, peeked through an abandoned building, now I'm sitting in a dark park with one of my favorite spooky reads.

Hannibal is an essential classic. This show... maybe not so much.

I've had bursting hemorrhoids that were more thrilling than Flanagan's Carrie "adaptation" seems.

This would have been a great opportunity to subvert/ expand on themes from the source material (like Hannibal, for example), but I see we've gone for the "soften things up so that modern viewers aren't challenged to identify with imperfect characters" route instead.

I know folks are upset about executions being broadcast on live television. We all knew that was coming because we're living in a dystopia that's playing all the hits. Be that as it may, Lord willing, one day the current regime will find themselves lined up against a wall with the cameras rolling.

Subtitles: "I'd kind of like to see that."
Skippy listening to Barney about that George Raft movie on television.

Had a babysitter that thought putting this in front of my eyes was a great idea when it first hit HBO. I was maybe six at the time. I had nightmares about the tree outside my window for a week, but I also wanted to watch it again as soon as possible.

This ends in a "man v. machine" pizza making contest, similar to the Twilight Zone episode where Lee Marvin boxes a robot.

As a guy who makes pizzas for a living, can confirm that this is something we joke about all the time.

HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE BOOK I had this as a little kid and have been searching for it for DECADES. I couldn't remember the title or author, just that drawing of Mothman. Seeing this cover just unlocked it! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS. I'm so happy to have this information now.

Over the next nine months, I got into Depeche Mode, Slayer, booze, cigarettes, splatter movies, & porn. By the time the actual yearbook dropped, I was mega-embarrassed about the damage this article would do to my rep. I don't think I've ever recovered, psychologically.

In 8th grade, I was known as the Foremost Ninja Turtles Expert™ at my school, so the yearbook staff decided to interview me about it.

Bert SG @bertsellsgraves.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Oh man, I saw this at our local microcinema/ DIY space when it first dropped and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. This director has done a few other movies and all of them are similarly glorious.
