I love (x♾️) Son Ye Jin and Ji Chang Wook, and The Scandal is beautifully shot. The frustration and bitterness of the lives and era the characters are caught in are wonderfully expressed, but I have to say I’m underwhelmed by the character of Hui Yeon. I guess that’s the point?

Na Hong Jin’s Hope doesn’t take itself too seriously but the emotions hit you when you least expect it. Which is something Korean filmmakers and shows do very well. It’s one of the best sci-fi films I’ve seen in ages!

Im clearly not the demographic for this, but it’s also one of the most banal adaptation of a webtoon. Too much glorification of the violence without a coherent and rich storyline, to be honest. Although the casting of the three leads is great.

#Tunnel appears to be one of those highly recommended Kdramas, and the premise is interesting, but I don’t know, the cops are all very clueless. Like, in terms of cop shows, they’re just bad cops in comparison to shows like Stranger or Through the Darkness. Or even Signal.

Went to watch #DearYou in the cinema in London, mostly due to the controversy it courted in Singapore due to the language issue. It was an endearing tale of Chinese migrants to Southeast Asia; I think people who have closer ties to China and these narratives would find it more personal.

When people lament about how good Kdramas are circa 2016, all I see are toxic female characters and so. Much. Gaslighting. They were the reason why I resisted watching Kdramas in the first place. I think right around 2019, they start to get a bit more enlightened…

What the fuck is it good for? Im asking sincerely. Medical people say its shit for diagnosing, its utter garbage for creative fields, it cannot teach and hallucinates false answers, programmers have to fix its code half the time, businesses find it doesn't help productivity and it causes psychosis.
