I love when you follow someone back and they immediately DM you. You politely tell them you don't like unsolicited DMs and wish them a nice day. And they try to make it look like I'm the one being the jerk. Yeah no, not having it. 😆🚫

If you're in need of motivation today, just remember that Laura Ingalls Wilder didn't publish her first Little House book, "Little House in the Big Woods", until she was 65 years old... 📚📚📚

I noticed this morning that Carrie had her wedding band on her pinkie. I asked why it was on the wrong finger, and she said it made sense because she married the wrong man. Ouch. 😉😆💕

How adorable! These are our Corgis, Lucy on the left and a Duchess on the right...

Admittedly, it was the cover that caught my attention more than it being Lovecraft. I was only vaguely aware of who he was when I was a teen...

More international book mail! By this point, y'all who follow me know the story. 😉 These are from Indonesia, the first I have from that country. They're used, and the movie tie-in book is in a little rough shape, but the price was right for them so absolutely no complaints...

For whatever reason, zombies never did much for me. My favorite depends on my mood, but if pressed, I would say "Evil Dead". Or for a classic one, "Phantom of the Opera"...

As always, the whole series, but this being the first I read...

I love most of his writing, but this was the first book of his stories that I got...

Exactly! And since I write primarily horror, things that are a one-star for one person could be an auto-buy for another. Bring on all reviews, just explain them.

Bert Edens @bertedens.bsky.social · 17/11/2024

I'm glad you weren't afraid to mention the book. Sometimes people are afraid to call out an author or book. As a reader, only positive reviews don't help me. And as a writer, bad reviews with no feedback don't help me. I have a one-star review comment with only "DNF". Not helpful to anyone. 😂

Bert Edens @bertedens.bsky.social · 17/11/2024

Can we ask what you DNF'd and why? Always curious about others' opinions on books they didn't like...

This is the book that hooked me on modern horror & made me want to be a writer. I read it back in 1975 when I was 8. 😉😂 It's the only book I collect various editions for, in case anyone has any to spare. 😉

Bert Edens @bertedens.bsky.social · 17/11/2024

More international book mail! Another 50th Anniversary edition of "Carrie", this hardback published in the UK. Another in my growing collection of "Carrie" editions. And it even has a ribbon bookmark. Always need more editions, especially in other languages. Let me know if you have access to any. 😉

I can only imagine how much they help. I love them with my work commute of ninety minutes round-trip. I bet they're even more important for long haul. I've read a few of his Dirk Pitt novels and enjoyed them. Need to grab some more...
