Chinese readers used to be a small percentage of my blog readers: now they are number 1. I assume these are actually bots scrapping material for AI purposes.

Some great deals on cookbooks over at Apple Books, many for 1.99. Worth a look. I may have purchased 5 or so. :)

Thought it was a good day to get out one of my favourite @bittersouth.bsky.social T shirts in honour of the hydronym for that body of water.

It’s a minor point but when I read this and I thought “wow you weren’t impressed by the internet? You sure as hell tried to limit people’s access to it when you led Microsoft!” Also he likely hasn’t coded in decades so the idea it is something he knows best is laughable.

This is informative, Uber. Now show how much of the fare goes to you and how much goes to the driver? Otherwise…

Went to Kensei bar recently and beside the great vibe and excellent music was delicious food and well crafted cocktails. Recommended

While I struggle with the month of August, there is much delight in it, including these glorious hydrangeas nearby.

Agreed. At least 7M dead, with a likelihood of 25M dead due to COVID (in line with deaths from WWI). It boggles my mind how little is thought of it in our culture ourworldindata.org/excess-morta...

I highly recommend How to be useful. As someone who struggles sometime with my own usefulness, I found it a good read (art:dish from a recent student artist displaying at the toronto outdoor art fair)

A dish that has the text: am I being useful?

People who hate SUVs will cite this and I get it. But I have been run down on a sidewalk by a vehicle like the one on the left and I fell to the ground and would have been run over if the car did not stop. Yes of course it was Toronto. 🙂

This is what passes for “socialism” in the USA. I mean it’s a good start as progressive policies go but it seems pretty mild. Idk

Does it help that I have a breakfast sandwich like this to go with the paper? Yes it does. Is it sad that a package of bacon is not longer a pound (454g) but 13 oz (374 g) also yes. Ah well. Probably for the best 😄

It is still fun to read the actual Sunday paper. Even though the photos often look terrible and some of the stories have been on the web days ago. It’s the act of having breakfast while reading a physical thing that is enjoyable.
