Great food for thought that touches very much the human & therapist in me having witnessed for 40y transformations of patients THROUGH language. Thank you! @freganmitts.bsky.social "But language also helps to mold human activity — our nominal language (...) works to shape this life..."

84 years ago today, after years of fearing a Nazi offensive, months of daily bombardment, after losing her beloved London’s places & with the serious threat of imminent invasion (she & Len were on the Gestapo’s list), #VirginiaWoolf decided to leave our world and observe it from another dimension.

Reading #VirginiaWoolf 1938 Diaries (and later) it is about the devastating and shameful #MunichAgreement How French and British (without the Czechs present) thought they would tame Hitler by sacrificing part of Czechoslovakia… we all know how it ended… well let’s hope European leaders too

April 29 1933, #VirginiaWoolf met Bruno Walter on his way to the US “You must think of this awful reign of intolerance of the all state of the world. It is terrible-terrible. That this meanness, that this pettiness should be possible! Our Germany-which I loved-We are now a disgrace”D4,153. Familiar?

By pushing out so many federal researchers, educators, law enforcers or diplomats (in particular the older ones), this administration deprives future generations of thousands of years of combined expertise, know-how, & professional capability. It is an #Americantragedy. #thedeathofexpertise

If the Department of education is cancelled by musk and the republican (as it looks like it is happening today) the 17 first states receiving money from the feds are red states…

Again and tragically, 2025 is the new and terrifying “1984.” Orwell only missed it by 41 years (in Huf Post)

Interesting sign of the times...I wanted to buy (via independent bookstores) a few copies of 1984 by Georges Orwell to give around to young(er) people...and it is back order...I suppose it is a good news? or is it?

When my father was 10 the Nazi came in his school and took away his Jewish friend. His friend never came back. That traumatic memory never left my dad either. History keeps repeating itself in many forms and everywhere. It is why so many work so hard for us to forget it and not care about it.

Found in our Belgian garden on dead wood w the proper combi of cold & humidity: Hair ice, or frost beard. « The fungus Exidiopsis effusa shapes the ice into fine hairs through an uncertain mechanism and likely stabilizes it by providing a recrystallization inhibitor similar to antifreeze proteins »

Every week I meet w autistic women and men who spent decades wandering between misdiagnoses & inappropriate therapy. When they realize they could be autistic, they r often invalidated by the therapist, adding trauma to injury …so for all of us/you out there this #Steph Jones ‘s book is wonderful!
