This week's update is from Fir. Guess having all that power isn't all that great... something I've always personally figured was true. Why be forced to be responsible for so many people? You can't do what you want that way. You can read the full entry at: berelyse.org/archives/671/ -Laura Cee
entry that reads: "It was a good experience for Spica. She hasn’t gotten much of a chance to see what exactly I do amongst the people. What I’ll need her to do amongst the people. It’s one thing to feed the flames of an undying fire, but another entirely to tend to flames that burn out within heartbeats. She sat by my side for every meeting and listened to every silly little request I heard. And after I had asked her her thoughts, she responded with the same spark of intelligence I saw in her at the very beginning. Oh, I was so delighted!

I think the messiness of our first few days together really wore on her. I understand. It was a big transition. But she needs to move past it! We’re destined to sacrifice so much. But for everything we sacrifice — a relationship, an opportunity, a future we extinguish — You give us that and so much more in return. An idea I think she’s finally coming to understand.

We’re also having some excellent conversations. Our last night in Wolfjaw was delightful. I looked at her, and for once, she actually looked back at me. It was like my heart skipped a beat. I can’t remember the last time someone was willing to meet my gaze. Maybe before everything with Scritta fell apart…"

Hello, all! This week's update to the site is an exciting one. Not only is this week's entry longer than many that came before, it's the first true introduction of one of the major figures of our exhibition: Nico. I have more to say, but first: attached here is an excerpt.
An excerpt from the website. It reads:
"Nico… my host. I don’t trust him. He came out of the only intact cottage as I came to a stop, my lungs struggling for air. Another pang from the wounds on my leg reminded me that not only were they still there, they had reopened all over again. I wasn’t going to die of blood loss, but they needed attention, and soon.

The boy looked around the meadow cautiously, one hand on the trigger of the crossbow he carried. Then his eyes fell on me, and he waved like I was an old friend. “Hello, stranger! I don’t see travelers out here often. Are you lost?”"

Here's this week's update. This is an easy one... next week's will not. I can hear the higher-ups arguing already... Here's to one more week of peace. Also, excerpt below, and link to the actual entry is here: berelyse.org/archives/509/ -Ellsyx
Trainee demonstrates an incredible amount of endurance. Her reflexes are sharp. Her footwork is impressive. What she lacks in agility she makes up for in strength.

However, subject lacks actual combat experience. Her sword stance was incorrect. She lost power with every swing. Trainee has the raw strength to overcome an attack, but not the skill to power through the maneuver. It is clear she has little experience with a sword.

Trainee’s affinity for magic was also examined. She has no prior experience with magic, and little natural affinity for tapping into His Eternal Warmth’s mighty Forge.

Trainee’s attitude is concerning. Trainee has little confidence in herself or in her abilities. Suggestions for improvement immediately following the exam were met with pessimism. When reminded that she has received a Spark, and thus has been chosen to serve His Eternal Warmth, trainee began to cry. Attempts to console the trainee were not successful.

We're now officially back to regular updates! While not my favorite portion of the archive (that will come later), I find the records in this portion of the archive endlessly fascinating. Below is an excerpt from this week's update. Enjoy! (-: -AP
An excerpt from the entry, linked in the following post. The excerpt reads:
"I’m used to burns, not scratches. It was worse when I first started tending the lighthouse. Blossom would see me trying to bring bread up to my mouth with just my palms during breakfast and ask why I was doing that, or she’d see my burnt fingers and ask why they were so red and puffy. I’d snap at her that I got burned. She didn’t understand that fire could hurt. She thought it only warmed and protected us.

The lantern room was sweltering. I can tolerate the heat now, but I couldn’t stand it when I first started. Blossom never understood that; she was used to cool winds and gentle fires. The lighthouse was her greatest refuge. When I told her that it was awful, she told me that I was wrong. She screamed that the lighthouse was a good place. That I was stupid and wrong. And that maybe if I could hear the songs that lived in the walls, I’d stop being so stupid and wrong."

Hello, everyone! A big thank you to Ellsyx for updating our social medias while the website has been quiet. But I'm proud to announce it won't be quiet for much longer. (-: Below is a small snippet of our most recent news post; you can read the entire post on our site.

"We’ve recently acquired additional funding that will allow us to bring on another full time staff member to help assist the team, particularly with tours and other in-person events. While previously, I handled the bulk of the in-person tours, my duties have evolved such that I no longer have the time to spare that I once did.

This is where our Benefactor stepped in. Our Benefactor is not usually involved in hiring, or in day-to-day matters of the Institute, but this opening seemed to particularly spark our Benefactor’s interest. After a bit of back-and-forth, we came to an agreement on our newest candidate. Now, I am proud to introduce our newest staffer, Laura Cee, to you all. "

Jasmine Finds Blossom, RESTORED VERSION, from the Berelyse Institute of Cultural Illumination's current exhibit, The Last Lighthouse Keeper We can finally share the complete version of this piece now as Jasmine's story continues with today's update to the exhibit! @berelyse.org #berelyse
A somewhat dark, backlit scene with a color palette reminiscent of dawn. Jasmine, hunched on the floor in a pool of her sister's blood, holds Blossom to her as she tries to process what she's seeing. The blood moves and drips through the grooves in the floorboards, filling in the scorch mark of the sigil of His Eternal Warmth.

Hello, all! With this update, I'm proud to announce that we've officially uploaded EVERY RECORD we have from the first portion of our archive! You can read the excerpt attached here, and the full entry on our site: berelyse.org/archives/i/4... -AP
A screenshot from the berelyse website, showing some of the text reflected in the record. It reads:

There were two fishers, trembling spears in hand, posted outside my front door. I haven’t gone to the lighthouse since scattering her ashes, and the fishers haven’t gone out to sea either, but I’m sure there’s someone prowling the lighthouse, making sure there’s no threat hiding within its walls.

They’re afraid. They think I can’t hear them muttering to each other outside, but I can. They want me to move to the lighthouse. It’ll be easier to protect me there, they say. Easier to trap me there, more like. With all the ghosts and with Blossom’s whispered songs I’ll never hear again.

They’ve convinced themselves an aberration somehow broke into the village and killed her. They just haven’t found the aberration yet, but they will. Better that than the alternative.

I know better. It wasn’t an aberration. Maybe I could have deluded myself into thinking it was an aberration too, if it wasn’t for what I found last night.
