I don’t think I’ve mentioned them, but I can’t recommend enough the two movies I saw at film festival in Healdsburg this past summer: My Old Ass and The Cycle of Love. Two of my favorite films I’ve seen this year.

Since you’re corroborating the sentiment of a post complaining about declining literacy rates, I’m going to assume you’ve read J.W. Rinzler’s “Making of Empire Strikes Back,” which includes Kasdan explaining that nothing from Brackett’s first and only script was used in subsequent drafts.

This isn’t just the peak—it’s the tip of an iceberg. And honestly? That’s the real punk rock.

I might be bending the “rules” a bit by considering elements beyond the visual design, but writing and performance are absolutely critical for the design of a TV character, and no one, I mean no one, was cooler to me than Spike at this age.

The visual and thematic goings-on with these opening shots in The Phantom Menace distill these concepts down to a very simple shape, in which the simplicity is precisely what allows the imagery's meaning to reverberate and snowball out at numerous points throughout the trilogy.

The opera that Anakin and Sheev watch in Revenge of the Sith looks both like a cluster of cells and like a planetary system, and it visually mirrors their final shot as they supervise the construction of a moon-shaped WMD that exists to destroy planets.

The Senate chamber -- the monument at the bright center of the galaxy, where symbiosis breaks down -- is a dome with hundreds of individual seats that appear to spiral downward.

You have an underwater city that's teeming with primitive life forms within the structure of a planet with a more "advanced" civilization on its surface, and the city is made up of interconnected spheres.

The shape of the Trade Federation's ship at the beginning of the Phantom Menace is a sphere within a larger circle — it's a visual representation of the theme of symbiosis that runs throughout the saga and is especially important to Phantom Menace.

There's also a very funny error here where she says that this clip was only thirty seconds in a four hour long video.

Third and most recently, Jessie said that I "wanna venerate [George] as a visionary auteur who can do almost no wrong because he is a Great Man." So she's indirectly addressing me to pretend to tell me what my motivations and opinions are.

The first is Jessie's pinned comment first addressing it, she tried to pivot to say that she was wrong about Marcia, but that there was still a "documented issue" of Lucas not paying royalties to other people.

Eddie Brock is such a strange photographer. You’re documenting a chaotic crane accident and you have auto-focus off and shutter speed at 1/50th of a second. Truly terrible settings, and yet you were mindful enough to use a lens hood since it’s a sunny day? Make it make sense.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Joss Whedon was inspired by these ideas with how he shows Buffy embracing death as a gift as well.

This is something that’s super important the sequence of Denethor trying to burn himself and his son alive — and why the shot of Denethor’s flaming, dying body falling over the kingdom of Gondor being reclaimed by the army from the neighbors that Gondor had failed to aid.

So when Theoden and the army of Rohan shout “Death!” upon charging into Gondor, it’s out of defiance of the dark forces of evil — that they now have no power over how Men will act. They reclaim death as a gift, because how we choose to die is one of the most powerful choices one can make.

In Lord of the Rings lore, God bestowed mortality and death upon humankind as gifts, so that their time on Earth would be finite and that that would be what makes it enjoyable. However, humans then began to fear death itself.

The Mount Olympus field theme in KH3 has always sounded to like Ottorino Respighi's "Pines of Rome," which is both one of my favorite pieces of classical music and was included in the criminally underappreciated Fantasia 2000.

So Rustbelt, you are free to puke all you like over Joss Whedon's work, but given how misguided and inaccurate your criticisms of this matter are, I hope this thread compels you to re-evaluate your own nausea Perhaps you may even consider actually watching the show before voicing any more critiques

Also in Serenity Found, novelist and writing professor Evelyn Vaughn explains how taking out the slavery aspect from Firefly's allegory serves the purpose of presenting the lasting emotional and social devastation of the real-world Civil War.

"It deals with great loss and the search for hope and a home when you are cast away by a moral society. It calls into question what morality means in the face of war and what you do with yourself when what you have been taught as moral is turned against you."

Next, Rustbelt, you say that you watched a YouTube video that says Joss was inspired to create Firefly after reading the book "The Killer Angels," but you refuse to cite which video it was! How is anyone supposed to cross-reference for themselves and check your source's accuracy that way?
