I got this comment on LinkedIn the other day regarding the DHH/1Password stuff and I can't stop thinking about it. The richest man in the world is an open white supremacist boosting 14 Words content daily. Maybe the "overuse" of the term is because all the -ists are getting bolder every day

Lol I don't take people who use "ist" words seriously anymore. Those words have lost all power due to overuse.

When I first heard "no ethical consumption under capitalism" I took it to mean a capitalist economy is inherently exploitative & to be more about the systems at play. And all of that is true but also we're learning that basically every company is run by bigots & abusers & it's a bummer

Like this is just so insanely dishonest. This is Mitch Hedberg's "have you ever tried sugar… or PCP?" There are three examples and three items in this list. @mainenewsroom.com is ostensibly the third, but really just A Guy, who is a Dem, talking about the news. #mepolitics @pressherald.com shame
Each page presents itself as a reputable local news source while posting steady streams of politicized news. They are all run by either super PACs, nationwide dark money groups or partisan operatives, all obscuring their roles in swaying Maine’s media ecosystem for political benefit.

Great job @pressherald.com. No notes. Today: "Graham Platner still has my vote in November," by Jennifer Duryea of Limington. A year ago: "Susan Collins impresses this lifelong Democrat" by Jennifer Duryea of Limington (praising another meaningless "maverick" vote that doesn't affect the outcome).
Portland Press Herald
Kudos to Sen. Collins for standing up and doing the right thing by voting against Pete Hegseth.
Please know that this does not go unnoticed.
I am a lifelong Democrat and have been an elected party official, but if Collins keeps this record going forward, I will not only repaint my
4-foot-by-8-foot Kamala Harris sign with Collins' name, I will volunteer to work for her campaign in two years.

I have seen in Maine since 2008.
This is the same approach the DNC took in 2016 when they tried to shut out Bernie Sanders, which resulted in (the Democratic vote/party?) losing most of Sanders' army of newly active young folks, who would probably have saved us from our current crisis.
After a lifetime as a born and bred Democrat, with nearly 60 years of party activism, my last vote will be to write in Graham Platner in November.

I will forever be pointing to @lukeoneil47.bsky.social's great piece, "Wanting the government to help people is free" www.welcometohellworld.com/wanting-the-...
I've written on this in here before but wanting the government to help people is free. You don't have to preemptively circumscribe your demands to appease the reasonableness referee in your mind or to placate a hypothetical political opponent. You are just some guy you can ask for whatever. So many people even or perhaps especially liberals have got a little Matthew Yglesias living inside of them like Kuato from Total Recall that makes them think like a centrist pundit and feel like they're "playing the game" by being sober and removed about the realm of the possible.

Cast
Johnny Depp as Ebenezer Scrooge, a stingy, penny-pinching, cantankerous and lonely old man whose sheer miserly nature leads him to despise Christmas and all things which engender happiness.
Arthur Conti as young Ebenezer
Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit
Andrea Riseborough as the Ghost of Christmas Past
Tramell Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present
Ian McKellen as Jacob Marley
Daisy Ridley as the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come

This feels prudish, to me. Swearing? Storming out of rooms? But it also misses important context. Is he yelling at his colleagues because they took the last granola bar from the kitchen, or because they want to take away people's civil rights?
The water bottle clash, which was first reported by the Washington Post, was not a one-off for a lawmaker also known for pounding on desks, storming out of rooms, getting into shouting matches with members of his own party and swearing at colleagues, sources told CNN – with one ex-colleague resorting to recording meetings out of concerns over his behavior.

Wild that a publication that is constantly stirring up old Red Scare stuff about the left-wing candidates winning all over would argue that the Democratic Party is not "litigat[ing] what the party actually believes" this cycle.
But a big tent is worth pitching only if something is argued inside it, and that is precisely what this midterm cycle has lacked. Handed the chance to litigate what the party actually believes, Democrats have mostly declined.

A lot of the commentary here may be missing that Serrano set the "passing" number to 40 for the test. I think that's not the main focus of the discussion here but it's notable. S22 passed, for example.
In a follow-up message to students, Serrano announced the midterm was void and the final exam would be worth 80 percent of the students’ final grade. Any student that scored a 40 percent or higher on the final earned a passing grade—previously, he set the passing line at 50 percent or higher. In total, 19 students failed the class.

RBFA STATEMENT UPDATE
Following its previous statement, the RBFA wishes to publicly explain the events of the past few hours.
After learning through media reports of FIFA’s decision to lift the automatic suspension of player Balogun, the RBFA sent a letter to FIFA requesting a copy of the decision, an explanation of the process that had been followed, and setting out its position regarding the applicable regulations.
As its only response, FIFA sent a letter to the RBFA stating that it considered this correspondence to constitute an appeal, that a judge had been appointed, and that the RBFA had only a few hours to complete that appeal. No information whatsoever was provided by FIFA.
For an appeal to be admissible, FIFA’s own regulations state that the reasoned decision must first have been communicated to the appellant. While the RBFA was merely seeking legitimate explanations, FIFA itself created an appeal and immediately ensured that it would be declared inadmissible.
All of this occurred while FIFA simultaneously refused to respond to the RBFA’s legitimate requests.

lol. "Nearly 40% of signature gatherers for Maine trans athlete ballot question were from out of state" themainemonitor.org/out-of-state...
During a hearing at the Maine State House earlier this month, the secretary of state’s office heard testimony from an unlikely source: a man calling in from an unnamed cargo ship somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.

He was joining remotely to answer questions about his work collecting signatures for the “Protect Girls Sports in Maine” citizen initiative, which petitioners are trying to get on the ballot this November.

“That was a first,” said Tim Woodcock, a Bangor-based attorney representing the committee attempting to get the referendum on the ballot, when asked about the transcontinental call.

The witness involved, a man from Georgia, was being questioned about his time in Maine several months prior when he collected signatures for the aspiring ballot question, which would restrict participation in school sports and access to bathrooms and locker rooms based on biological sex. He and several other out-of-state petition circulators have been at…

Rosenbaum would not weigh in on the accuracy of Pangram’s results. In fact, he didn’t want to talk about them at all. “I don’t participate in that conversation,” he said. “It’s like saying, do you beat your wife? It’s one of those accusations that there’s no response to.”
