Really like this project by Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek. Titled Exactitudes, it's a series of portraits stretching back 20 years that shows how people style themselves to signal they're part of a group and unique individuals within that group. exactitudes.com

I think we can all agree that was the worst penalty shoot out ever. Still, an ugly win is still a win. #lionesses

I did four last week, and I was on a three-day union course from Wednesday.

Likewise. I find it helpful. It's still not at the same level that old Twitter was, but it is getting better and better. The new Twitter was horrible.

That's a good idea. I will speak to the head of the 6th form.

Don't know. It's only our second cohort (new school) so can't say which year is typical.

Yr 12 induction day. Last year about 40% of students on Further Maths were female. This year: 0%. #Alevelmaths

Hungary banned anything that “promotes homosexuality,” which means Pride. However, today over 500,000 people in Budapest told the government to fuck off. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

This is one of the best questions on error intervals. Really separates out students who answer procedurally and those who understand. It's a great question.

#Alevelmaths some very kind soul put up a link to the PDFs of the Pearson a level books. I don't suppose anyone still has it? We are subscribers so this isn't sketchy.

This year we only had 3 A Level teachers. Each class had 2 teachers (KS 5 coord taught both). I taught 13 of 20 FM classes - all Yr 12 A Level, all stats, half of D1. She taught all mechanics, FM1 and half of D1. We split Yr 13 a level and are splitting core pure. Next year we have 4 teachers

This long thread is packed with insights, particularly on the intersection of fashion and power. The transformation in men's fashion from the richness of the 18th century to the drab of the 20th is, I think, regretable.

Oh. Interesting. We do Edexcel so I will have to check with them. Thank you.

I worked for the paper for nearly 20 years. That's not on my bio anymore. It comes to something that the crook Conrad Black was a far better proprietor than the loathsome Barclay brothers.

Isn't it easy? This was the first year I taught it (well, half of it). Have to say I found it pretty straightforward as did students. But boy is it picky... Students seemed really happy to have done it - I think it offers a break and is unlike anything they have done before. I am a convert.

Question for #ALevelMaths - doing Mod-arg with Furthers. It's the first time I taught it. Is cisθ still an acceptable abbreviation for cosθ + isinθ. It was a thousand years ago when I did FM A level, but is it accepted by Edexcel? Thanks.

I realise this is not really rthe point, but my goodness the Americans cannot march. That wasn't a parade, it was a shamble. The contrast with #troopingthecolour could not be more stark. #nokings #actualking

No, I remember interviewing Carswell once and he thought the Greek city state, or Venetian model was the ideal of state. It was a curious argument.

I knew Carswell quite well back when I was a journalist. I could not have disagreed more with his politics, but the man himself was intelligent and considered, and a good MP. It is sad to read this kind of populist crap. He moved to the US so no doubt is swept up in whole MAGA bs.

Wouldn't it be great if they went "That bloke? Served with him in Kabul. What an utter bell end."

020

Ben Rooney @benrooney.bsky.social · 14/06/2025

Love watching #troopingthecolour but never sure of the point of having serving officers as commentators. Every other person they talk about on the parade is a "sterling chap, excellent soldier and a great mate". They can't all be. Some of them must be utter tossers.

I spent a year in the hell that is Yr 7 computer science. Trying to get 32 Yr 7s to type the same thing in the right excel cell is, frankly, impossible.

Where did I say that? I discussed it with my tutor group and how they could use it for revision. The good bits and the bad. I think we are in smash the spinning Jenny territory here. AI is here.

Hallucinations depends on the AI you use. Something like NotebookLM doesn't hallucinate so not an issue.
