BBC University challenge picture round on plant illustrations taken from original ‘Scouting for Boys’ book. One word answer required. They got the Oak on second guess but none of others. I am always in awe of these students knowledge -but is this an example of ‘Plant Awareness Disparity’?
Simple line drawing of Oak tree and a leaf with lobed edgeLine drawing of a tall narrow tree and leaf. Correct answer was given as Aspen. Looks like a Lombardy Poplar to meAsh leaf with opposite pinnate compound leavesLine drawing of Elm tree and leaf with serrate edge and asymmetrical base

Thanks for replying. I was looking for Entoloma. Just thought the reticulate pattern was striking on this one. Will do some sections next time to see if can identify

International medical graduates are much more likely than UK graduates to end up in non-training posts carrying out service provision with no career progression
010
Ben @benrl.bsky.social · 03/06/2026
The UK medical training prioritisation act 2006 from this government is doing exactly this. But my point was that increasing number of Uk medical schools and medical graduates was not matched by a corresponding increase in training posts so there is a mismatch. Lack of workforce planning.
