It’d be good to catch up soon. FaceTime/WhatsApp call? Oh, and Arsenal. I’m as happy as a bunny.

‘Carrots’, grasshopper, ‘carrots’. As welcome in a proper Cornish pasty as a chihuahua’s chuff in your face.

A) indeed she has. Now you/she needs to ensure only the best suitors get within 50 metres of her. I’d use a cattle prod to keep their distance. B) JW: great player….yet to be proven. Does he know anything about tractors ?

Canada: 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. You do beer and beavers extremely well. Mooning at Trump…now that’s a great look. Fart in his general direction.

That’s fabulous….👏👏👏👏👏 despite shortness of stature (look who’s talking) and propensity to smelliness and verbal farts, you are a decent ambassador for all things British. Hurrah sir ! (Was family involved in that shot?)

I love stone circles. This is Minions moor in Cornwall. The larks were singing and the gorse smelled of coconut. A beautiful day.

Now that’s the Spirit. Imagine ‘matron’ tucking you up with a nice mug of cocoa and some hobnobs? @richardtatham.bsky.social (careful now). How’s the Penticton Home Guard coming on? The yanks ‘don’t like it up ‘em ‘ remember (and they can’t dunk biscuits).

The ‘squeeze out’ - rich get richer they have ‘low marginal propensity for consumption’ meaning they buy assets more than ordinary folk. House and stock prices rise; at first feels good for us. But the rich will soon outcompete the ordinary folk out of ownership of assets particularly housing.

Benny Goodman @bennygoodman.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

The ‘squeeze out’ - the rich as they accumulate, impoverish ordinary folk. Post war welfare capitalism was an aberration, now we return to rentier and predatory capitalism.

The ‘squeeze out’ - the rich accumulate and then out compete everyone else for assets. The middle class are beginning to feel this now. Debt and wealth loss is the result for ordinary families.

Why do so many idiots end up in power? Bertrand Russell took up that question in 1946—shortly after a number of powerful and malicious idiots killed around 85 million. “The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.”

I know we are all feeling it, but on this beautiful spring morning can we not just for a moment believe the world is a kinder place than it actually is? Whiskers on kittens…?

Hobknobs. Is there a finer dunking biscuit? The Rich Tea has a place in the pantheon of hot beverage nibbles, but it has the staying power of a post coital erection after a particularly energetic session of dogging in Epping Forest* (*other comparisons are available). @richardtatham.bsky.social

Governments have been running deficits for ever, the odd surplus is followed by growth spurt then crash. Governments with sovereign currencies have no limits bar inflation - cured by tax. One debt is another’s credit. Austerity: ideological based ‘evidence light’ choice. youtu.be/L7iy4WN4KXc?...

The scale of tax/spend misunderstanding is staggering. We all talk about getting taxpayers to pay and/or governments to cut to balance the books. We are not a household or an SME. They can’t create money and the en destroy it via tax. Governments can. youtu.be/L7iy4WN4KXc?...

Taxpayers do not fund government spending. Governments fund government spending. The role of tax is to take money out of the system to prevent inflation. No one gets this right (see Richard Murphy on YouTube). youtu.be/L7iy4WN4KXc?...

I once used WhatsApp to share plans to deport the nation’s cretins to the USA. Sadly, the morons read it (how did they do that?), got in first and started filling the Whitehouse with their mates. Boy, do I feel silly now. #hegseth #walz #wtf?

open.substack.com/pub/tashthin... In ‘Shop Sh*tting Yourself’, Sam details how the ‘work hard play hard’ ethic almost broke him. How ‘success’ is actually having a balance between working for as much money as you need to pay your bills whilst having enough time for hobbies, friends, family.

This country is awash with money. The very rich are rich beyond imagination. So when Starmer wants to stay within his arbitrary fiscal rules, who does he decide to take money from? The very rich? No, from people with disabilities who depend on benefits for the bare minimum of a decent life.
