This says everything about politics in 2025: Far-right, pro-US, anti-China candidate José Antonio Kast won Chile's presidential election. Kast, a Trump ally, is a staunch defender of the Pinochet dictatorship, and the son of a German Nazi official. He also is very pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian.

In a separate article, the FT notes that Bessent conveniently left out how much of Ukraine's mineral revenue will be paid to the US. A draft of the deal says Ukraine's fund will be set up “with the encumbrance (legal claim) of such revenues in favour of the United States”. The US will have control

Hilariously, Bessent tries to justify this by revealing that "Zelenskyy proposed giving the US a stake in Ukraine’s rare earths elements and critical minerals on a visit to Trump Tower". So a US puppet offered his country's resources to his US imperial overlord. It's still economic colonialism.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, a hedge fund billionaire, confirmed the Trump admin is imposing a plan that gives the US control over revenue from Ukraine's natural resources. The US will decide what investments are made (to benefit US corporations). This is economic colonialism.

Donald Trump is a colonialist who is serious about expanding the US empire's territory. In an executive order, Trump praised William McKinley for his tariffs and his "expansion of territorial gains for the Nation". McKinley colonized Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Philippines, Guam, and Hawaii.
