Photographers, and any other small business owners , I’ve made the short form video course. It IS NOT about how to go viral. That sort of information is hot garbage juice. I’ve put together a practical course, with real information. #photography #photographer #shorts #shortformvideo #reels

Well look who’s a yellow belt now. Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday night. Is 48 too old to start taking martial arts? Only if you’re not awesome. #martialarts #karate #yellowbelt

This is an easy way to get great light for your videos . Lighting for your videos and selfies doesn’t have to be difficult. A window is really all you need. . #videolighting #lightingtips #videotutorial #goodlighting

Client:“ can I be late? I got hung up here.” Me: “Depends on how late. I have someone else right behind you” Client: “Oh. I’ll be on time then.” Believe it or not, I book multiple sessions in a day. I’m not basing my business around you

The photographer you trust with your professional headshots and portraits needs to understand how to light. Even if every thing else in the portrait is perfect, if the lighting is bad, you look bad. #photography #lighting #portraits #professionalheadshots

there are loads of variables so I can’t say, “just do” It could be a matter of how you are posed for portraits. Perhaps you need to be turned one way or another, or maybe chin down works better than chin up, or any host of other maybes. Without seeing you & working with you I can’t say for certain.

010

Ben Marcum @benmarcum.bsky.social · 15/04/2025

Does the art resonate with you? If you were to commission portraits, would you want to see yourself this way? At the end of the day, that is all that matters. If the art touches your soul, that is what you should experience.

010

Ben Marcum @benmarcum.bsky.social · 13/04/2025

You are correct, if you would be uncomfortable having your boudoir portraits created in any circumstance that would make you uncomfortable, you should not have them created in that situation. Your boudoir session has to be comfortable. . #photoshoot #boudoir #boudoirphotographer

We are our own worst critics. I see it all the time when someone is looking at portraits of themselves and they pick apart all of their perceived flaws. “My smile is crooked.” “One eye is bigger than the other” “That one tooth…” “These wrinkles…” Nobody cares. #selfimage

Right now, as you are watching this video, little things about your appearance are changing. It’s kind of wild to think about, right? It’s also amazing. Frankly it’s the perfect reason to sit for a #portrait, and to do it at different stages of your life. You look amazing right now. #aging

This weather pattern we’ve had is rough (and they say climate change isn’t real) This is the third or fourth time this same leak has been “fixed”. Luckily I’ve caught it before it damaged the art or the antique hand tied rug. . #photographerproblems #louisville #itcantrainallthetime #rain #
