There is a migration guide here: github.com/TanStack/que... The biggest breaking change is that `provideTanStackQuery` requires a function that returns the query client instead of just the client.

I'm starting to replace "developer {something}" with "development {something}". Development is production, just like computing. Nobody is calling _people_ "computers" right now. What you want is architects/engineers. Developer is a temporary role like it was with computer.

What welcomes new users on Twitter vs Bluesky Both are terrible, but @bsky.app is waaaay worse. It has been similar (or worse) from when I started using bsky 😵‍💫
Twitter/X on the left: Instead of showing posts, a new user is prompted to create an account.
Bluesky on the right: The Discover feed, showing really suggestive and NSFW content

🔥 The if function solves a problem that I recently had and thought to be impossible to solve with plain CSS: styling a child element differently depending on the parent flex direction, where it can't be inferred by the parent class. Here is a demo of it: play.tailwindcss.com/4LGHtkxuPt?f...

If the "ideal app" should be less "use client" or more! A lot of hype that I have seen around RSC is towards avoiding "use client", but I think there's an unspoken beauty in having granular control on what is a cacheable and conditional <script> vs dynamic JSON (for request-rendered components).

And if the lib has a low bus factor!

NextJS is good if "use client" is used a lot, not otherwise. The trend of going *all in* on RSC is like buying a car and using it to every journey, including 2 minute drives. Having a new car doesn't force you to leave behind walking or biking, it allows you to reach new frontiers when you have to!

I'm starting to use JSX for a big prompt with xml, and it's stupid how nice it is: - Formating, max line lenght - White space removal - Composition with functions And all it takes is a couple of TS to change the JSX available elements, and a render function from react-dom ✨

It's clear that the ones that pushed Google Gemini on Workspace aren't great at building products. GMail and Drive have a system for selecting multiple items, and an integrated AI should know that if one has selected items, one would probably want information about those items.

@convex.dev The only BaaS that really clicked for me. Everything makes sense, looks scalable both in code and performance, and is fun to work with.

En Chile almenos hay demasiados talento, creo que se visibiliza poco y no se arman los espacios para potenciarlo.
010
Benja Vicente @benjavicente.dev · 22/12/2024

And that it is preferable that loading is spread in the component (router) tree.

Benja Vicente @benjavicente.dev · 19/12/2024
+ lose easy SSR. I do that with useSuspenseQuery. My point is that, router loaders should compose and not be one-per-page. Like this remix js proposal (paralel-routes like): github.com/remix-run/re...

But having single loaders (per route node) isn't the goal right? I find it hard to scale (code-wise and not performance-wise) when loaders are in the page loader and not close to the components.

repos .sort(byUpdatedAt) .map(r=>( <RepoLink name={r.name} url={r.url} /> )) Where RepoLink is a client component, and repos is the data returned from the GH API.

A RSC that list the recent modified repositories of an organization, via GH API. api.github.com/orgs/solidjs... -- It simple cases, the data might be small, but I would imagine that the data per object usually grows when the project grows, without backend filtering mechanisms.

by contrast, the City of Berkeley account on Bluesky has a .gov domain, so you can immediately tell it's legit. Using domains as handles is brilliant

Found only this unimplemented idea for Remix github.com/remix-run/re... The proposed APIs doesn't seem great tho. I wish there was something like: createRoute({ slots: { right: Feed }, component: () => { <Route.Outlet slot="right" /> } }) Feed = createSlot({ loader: ... })

- Better routing for RSC: better TS DX, client-based routing fragments, easier revalidation - Debate of going full on complex selectors, long list of classes, and css vars (TW v4), vs compiled and simpler css (StyleX) - JS frameworks understanding that having only one loader per page doesn't scale 🙏

Benja Vicente @benjavicente.dev · 02/12/2024
The more I study JS client-first frameworks (Remix, SvelteKit, ...), the more I realize that scaling them is way harder that server-first (Rails, ...) in like 99% of cases.

RSC
010
Benja Vicente @benjavicente.dev · 30/11/2024
So if RSC only sends what's needed, in practice, when there's a lot of data and the aren't smart filtering mechanisms, RSC might end with smaller payloads than JSON. *Assuming that the components aren't given unnecessary data.
100
Benja Vicente @benjavicente.dev · 30/11/2024
But the RSC flight format sends only what the client needs, right? In the case of SPAs, one would have to filter out data that is not needed to the client. In RSC, that filtering happens more naturally with the client-server boundary*...

Benja Vicente @benjavicente.dev · 30/11/2024
Payload=HTML? For what I understand, that's false in most cases. For example, rendering components conditionally of server state. Rendering on traditional React would output the same HTML as RSC. But in RSC, it wouldn't send the data, and wouldn't run the data->component fn _again_ on the client.

AI internet search tools aren't just great because they can create great summaries. They're great because they can search multiple sites faster than it takes to load their unoptimized pages.

The domain as username option is wonderful. - It delegates the username acquisition to an external entity, so the network does not own usernames outside their own domain (bsky[dot]social‬). The external entity provides prof of ownership. - Shows where to know more about the user who is posting.
