Fond memories of important ICC PR messaging that made sure the crucial work of the court was communicated (still available to read in all its glory)

This kind of statement has been made so many times since the first US sanctions, & yet here we are again with the US knowing, correctly, that they can attack the court without repercussion. In August 2026 this kind of response is no more than a empty rhetorical vessel sailing helplessly in circles.

I really appreciated the opportunity to have been able to present on Saturday at the ADC-ICT Annual Conference where I discussed international criminal investigations beyond The Hague (ICC) and ongoing challenges and uncertainties relating to technology and the digital accountability 'ecosystem'.

A few thoughts from me (via LinkedIn) on the continuing challenges for the International Criminal Court, and other international institutions/organisations, regarding technologies, big US tech providers, and digital sovereignty #ICC

At the Special Session of the ASP, Mexico delivered a joint statement condemning the sanctions against ICC judges signed by 48 member states. The statement has some less surprising signatory absences (Italy, Japan ), and some slightly more surprising ones (UK, Canada) #ICC

Curiosity side note: Given Trumps attacks and hostilities against the ICC, I wonder if he is aware that the US has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Joint investigation Team (JiT) into alleged core international crimes committed in Ukraine which also includes the participation of the ICC.

I am very excited to have received my copy of the edited volume on The Senses and Memory. My chapter explores the relationship between law, memory and the human senses. Below is a short summary of the chapter:

Once Hungary has submitted written notification to the UN Secretary-General the one year 'clock' starts ticket. During this period they still have obligations under Article 127 of the Rome Statute.

Really excited yesterday to see our concept, Cafe Moot, which I created and co-developed with brilliant colleague Liz Conaghan having its 1st event. Student advocacy in a fictional café (but the pizza was real!) One student stated, 'This is the first time that I have left a Moot feeling happy'!

Really interesting piece on storytelling and research 👇. In relation to research on law, it has both significant potential but also scope for big resistance in the scholarship ('Cute' idea, BUT, where is the law?).

The latest LSA Newsletter's remarks on the growing issue of traveling to the Chicago conference is frustratingly passive and unhelpful. The confernece is less than two months away: why 'monitor' the situation rather than, now, allowing a hybrid and full refund options? #LSAConference

The aircraft which apparently took Duterte from Manila to Dubai has now departed Dubai (several hours later then scheduled), if he is aboard he is due to arrive at Rotterdam airport at 17.56 local time.

I agree with the below point and is likely to have growing significance and implications. Also, this is directly relevant to key OTP technology partners such as Microsoft and Accenture.

The response to 'crisis' of law (ICC) does not, maybe should not, be more law, better law, stronger law. Perhaps law should not be the unequivocal saviour of its own demise.
