… I get the idea that coaches may have favored having Stew in the paint for rebounds and 2nd chance points, but if that’s true I’m not sure I understand what allows for some stretch bigs to be additive and others not (Pistons had +rebounders at multiple positions too, which adds to my confusion).

Question #2: I miss Stew already – damn near shed a tear reading Cade’s quote in your article. God bless him and his date farm. What is the skillset that Stew was lacking and that the Pistons would require in order to unlock this highly fetishized idea of a “stretch 5” to pair with Cade? …

Could you describe how the vision of the front office compares with the vision of the coaching staff? It’s feeling like we are shifting philosophy / identity as a team, and I wonder how in-synch these changes are.

Most of the remaining items on the agenda are referred to their various departments. 25.5, which was brought up by some commenters for being too long and confusing is indeed shaped by some kind of typo. The nature of this I didn't really understand but it seems like it be reformatted.

20.9, a contract renewal with Park Pharmacy Inc for medical services at Detroit Detention Center, is back after being postponed for a week. Without any discussion being raised, it is passed – Johnson, McCambell, and Calloway all with objections.

Correction: apparently this ordinance already exists for alcohol and cigarettes, but does not yet for weed products. And it does pass, seeing no objections.

Ben Haddix @benhdx.bsky.social · 14/07/2026
There was an extended conversation regarding 18.7 and 18.9. There is allusion without specifics (that I'm hearing) regarding this development receiving tax abatements for the project… related to this is the extra discernment of the project, I assume.

Santiago-Romero speaks to advocate for unionized labor and appropriate payroll on the project. She suggests that for her this project is a test – if the accountability and transparency requests that the council has made are not honored, then she will lose a lot of trust in these types of projects.

FWIW, many of the council members echo the importance of taking forward the tools and standards set up by this situation to advance the work against slumlords –– emphasizing proactivity and that this will not be the last time this type of situation comes before the council.

Prior to the passing of the settlement, Santiago-Romero suggested that she too felt it was not punitive enough considering how the landlord took advantage of people, BUT she felt that this situation has been going on for years and if it goes back to be resettled, is there any guarantee of a deal.

This line item, 17.2, passes. This is despite much concern from most of the council regarding the idea that Munoz is getting too easy of a deal with this settlement. Waters, Miller, and McCambell dissented on passing the settlement.
