Respectfully, it makes sense to me. I happen to be watching the game back, so I just watched the play again. As Love steps up, Kraft is preparing to be an escort block. The swing is clearly to Kaleb. Zero intent to involve Kraft, who just happens to grab a live ball after a deflected lateral.

Holy shit @dennycarter.bsky.social quoted me and the mentions are aflame. Legit learning a lot from many thoughtful posts, and then a few people were, let’s say, not fans. Gold medal lands here in a runaway.

Saying because in asterisks is a really pretty poor representation, but the details in your rough outline are mostly accurate, devoid of a ton of relevant context. There’s a legit documentary called Sonicsgate that gets at the crazy story.

Just found a spreadsheet with last year's. New England was so low they didn't make my spreadsheet (I have 24 of 32 teams here). Seahawks were 47/1.

Yep, almost always have a team there. I just found an old spreadsheet of mine that has the odds from two years ago. Might be before the Super Bowl was played that year, maybe after. SF was clear favorite, but multiple other teams up in good range and then a steeper dropoff.

DraftKings posted initial futures odds for next year's Super Bowl. It's as you'd expect, with co-favorites at +950 and 16 teams — half the league — at +2200 or shorter. Never seen anything like it. Super fun to think about what comes next in the NFL.

You're asking me to ignore data because you don't feel like it's right. Anecdotally, I've seen a ton of pretty heavy snow games with more offense than that since learning about the data. The below Bills-Bengals game was in December and 39-34. Both teams were making snow angels all over the field.

I don't make the rules but that missed kick just took this game from snoozer to fun bad

Fascinated by these two models having such different answers. Broncos went for it, didn't convert. NE took the field goal. Football is a game of possessions. You get about 10. This is a game where each team might only get 2 or 3 scoring chances. I get the "take the points" idea here.

Siegele and I spent 2.5 hours drafting which teams we think can win the Super Bowl as an excuse to talk about a fascinating 2025 playoff field. Was a fun one. Merry Xmas.

Garafolo reporting on the other site the online lists are wrong, and it is pick 92. So, even my attempt at very minor optimism for Seattle fans was wrong!

Pretty hung up on the missed hold on the 4th down in the first half, and then the late hit on Saquon on 3rd down, where Pereira was describing how it could be overturned if contact occurred before the foot was down while we were being shown this (was inside 2 mins, would’ve been booth review)

Baldwin’s bot had it a toss up. Had it as a “medium” go on the 4th and 2. Important for broadcasters to communicate this stuff well.

This conversation is so fascinating because of how it’s all about different degrees of probability. I had someone say “9 times out of 10” for the conversion then saw Baldwin’s bot had it at 74% success and honestly that’s the whole thing — the difference between 74%, 90%, 100%.

One of my big questions about the whole Bears thing is what the hell happened the play before? Tackles basically allow the ends around the edge, but the center releases upfield immediately. What's he doing? Clear ineligible penalty if ball is thrown. Did the line think this was a QB draw?

Prime Vision is so cool. Mahomes throws this with such anticipation, basically right at a defender he knows is going to clear out.

Looks like it's somewhere in between our interpretations lol, in that wikipedia has it as "a creative work" specifically and I've broadened that, but your explanation I think is probably a bit too specific?

Two images that explain why Audric Estime’s Week 10 was so interesting. 1) Despite struggles, Javonte Williams had played a narrow range of raw snaps every week, between 35-42. Until Week 10. 2) Estime didn’t touch the ball until late-1Q but looked great. By crucial final drive, he got 6 carries.
