Trey's just laughing. He can't believe he got to play What's Going Through Your Mind for an audience that is nearly entirely normies who have never heard the song.

Absolutely love seeing Trey Anastasio with the confidence to play this song in that (Crossroads Guitar Festival) setting. So cool.

Incredible. Guardians win the division title for the third straight year, despite having the lowest payroll in baseball. They can rest their pitching until opening a best of 5 ALDS series at home. They can mix and match the rotation and start their two best pitchers in 4 of the 5 games. Dangerous.

Ben Gardner @bengardner87.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

Tonight's Guardians game is big enough for me to stay in and skip my favorite Grateful Dead cover band at my favorite bar. Appointment viewing September baseball. Winning the division would give this team the possible pitching edge in 4 of the 5 ALDS games. #GuardsBall

In what will go down as the greatest flex of all time, Ron Carter ended his performance at the Detroit Jazz Festival by asking the audience to pull out their phone and visit www.roncarteruniverse.com. Each dot represents an album he's played on. It's spectacular.

Ron Carter just played a phenomenal set at the Detroit Jazz Festival and received the Spirit of Detroit award. What a legend. 89 years young.

Ben Gardner @bengardner87.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

Ron Carter is about to take the stage at the Detroit Jazz Festival. I want people to understand how special this is. One of the most important artists in music history is playing as part of a free festival in his hometown at the age of 89.

Just got carded at Trader Joe's while buying Thirst Mutilator. Because I am a nice guy I turned it into a conversation about Billy Strings instead of shaming the person for carding me for a non-alcohol seltzer.

How was the Phish show? Labor Day weekend is all about the Detroit Jazz Festival for me, so I struggle to keep up with the Phish at Dick's vibes.

Finally dropping the needle on the brilliant new Billy Strings album. Already listened on TIDAL and at the Record Store. This is easily his best studio album.

Ben Gardner @bengardner87.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

I don't know how Billy Strings performed this song in front of 30,000 people. Processing grief through art at its finest.

Ben Gardner @bengardner87.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

Billy Strings hosted a two day sold out festival with some of his closest friends and musical mentors across generations and genres, and did it in his home town of Ionia with affordable tickets and GREAT sound. The event boosted the local economy and raised money for good causes. Special event.

The sound at Ionia Freak Fair for Billy Strings and company was excellent everywhere inside the fairgrounds venue, front to back and side to side. Much better than the last show I saw at Pine Knob at the back of the lawn - Jack White in July. Props to the team.

I think it's hilarious they even have Mark Lavengood soundcheck his emcee schtick at Ionia Freak Fair.

010

Ben Gardner @bengardner87.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

Funniest moment at Ionia Freak Fair day one was probably the paradoxical situation of vibing to the "9 to 5" Dolly Parton tribute from Leftover Salmon and Lindsay Lou, then meeting friends in the food line next to the Metal tent and having "9 to 5" slowly drowned out by heavy metal. By design.

Beginning to get irrationally excited about the Billy Strings festival in Ionia in two weeks. Still can't believe we are paying $102 for 2-day passes for Billy Strings, Sierra Hull, Greensky Bluegrass, Leftover Salmon, Michael Cleveland, Lindsay Lou and more.
