I mean just look at Sonic Racing Crossworlds. Great game, but no story mode whatsoever! Not a bad choice, most people weren't fans of Team Sonic Racing or Sonic Free Riders' stories. But if you WANT it to have a story, you gotta go to the comics!

It's not like Sonic's recent games have been bad, far from it. But it's clear that having good gameplay is their main priority, with a good story coming second (or third, if you count good music). They know that the comics can focus on plot without having to compromise for gameplay.

But when I got into the comics, I was expecting fun SIDE stories that compliment the games' main story. But when I look at what Sonic's story's been in the comics these 10 years compared to Sonic's story in the games these 10 years, it's more like the other way around.

I think I've read enough of the Sonic IDW comics to say that the comic's story is more important than the games' these days. And honestly that's probably not even a hot take. Don't get me wrong, Frontiers' story was a step up from Forces and Shadow Generations was great, even.

The difference is (at least as far as I know) Infinity War didn't have to announce its death count. If I saw an article saying "Infinity War reportedly kills half of all life in the galaxy," I wouldn't have been nearly as shocked.

Also I forgot to say but I think it's really funny that Sigma also says "Gears and Starters!" as a swear. He's never met Belle once, but there must be a robo-lingo wired into the very nature of Eggman's robots.

Mecha Sonic and Metal Sonic truly had similar directives. Can these Scrapniks accept that Eggman was a bad man? Sure. But can Mecha accept that Sonic is better than him? That Eggman was wrong and he's just trash? No! Being a scrapnik means rejecting the idea they're just trash.

Interesting to hear Eggman say this. If I understand the timeline correctly, Metal Sonic was made before Mecha Sonic, Mecha Sonic Mk. II, and even Silver Sonic. So for Eggman to call Mecha Sonic Mk. II his greatest creation yet means he really saw potential in him. Potential he didn't live up to.

It would appear Mecha Sonic has ROBO-TRAUMA?! A very haunting idea for sure. It's true, he lost on Angel Island not once, but twice. And against Knuckles he even used the power of the Master Emerald.

As someone mentioned, this isn't Metal Knuckles from Sonic R, it's Mecha Knuckles from Sonic Advance. I haven't played it, but it would appear that in the game he was protecting the Master Emerald, almost as though he thought himself to be the real Knuckles. I see why they couldn't program it out.

This is good on Sonic. Sometimes I have a hard time of telling if I've rubbed someone the wrong way, and it feels too awkward to bring it up. But this is a nice way to say "whether you like me or not, let's be friends starting now."

I thought maybe something was special about this sunflower. It is just an ordinary sunflower though. If it means anything, it's just that these scrapniks truly have a newfound appreciation for life. Turned over a new leaf, if you will.

A very nice juxtapose. Mecha Sonic, washed up on the beach, defeated. And Sonic in that same spot, with the same bad foot, just soaking in the sunlight. Mecha Sonic, much like Metal Sonic, was built to be superior to Sonic in every way.

When I'd get handed this stuff, I would give it to my little sister-in-law just to get it out of my way. She always talks about how she likes Jesus because her friends like Jesus. But the last time I gave her one she said "no thanks I'm not Christian." This merch has the opposite intended effect.

My town has a handful of guys that will walk around in AI-generated Christian T-shirts and pass out free junk like this. And I just think to myself that capitalism has fucked their brains so hard that their definition of kindness revolves around buying Temu merch and giving it away at a loss.

Ah. Sonic Advance is one I haven't tried yet. Saw it at a game store recently for $90 tho! Too bad I don't have a GBA or DS (just a 3DS XL).

Perhaps Sonic's presence is bringing up some long-forgotten directives out of these robots. Mecha Sonic Mk. II seems tempted to vanquish him. And what is this Metal Knuckles? I know there's a Metal Knuckles in Sonic R, but he certainly didn't look like this!

Now THIS is the kind of adventure Tails wants, haha! It'll be cool to see what kind of things they've scrapped together, no pun intended. Many of the scrapniks have to frankenstein themselves with other pieces. Reminds me of some of Sid's toys in Toy Story.

I didn't recognize E-117 Sigma, and it seems my memory did not betray me. He wasn't in SA1, and Gamma probably would have destroyed had he been. I wonder if he has a Flicky inside like Gamma and Beta did. I don't think they ALL did, unless I'm misremembering. Omega doesn't, I know that much.

With Sonic's ankle slowing him down, it kinda reminds me of Sonic Labrynth. Except in that game, there wasn't a terminator trying to hunt you down! That'd have made the game feel more like Resident Evil 2 haha.

If the Egg Carrier is here, that means it's not JUST things that went down with the Death Egg. The Egg Carrier was blasted by Perfect Chaos in Station Square. Someone had to have brought it here. But for what purpose?

The wrecked Death Egg is a stunning example of art and atmosphere. The Red Eye has never looked so scary. The hallways which once seemed high-tech and Star Wars-esque now look decrepit, like a scene from Alien or Dead Space.

An insult that doesn't get used enough is "unserious". There's so many people out there who KNOW they're trolling, they KNOW they're playing Devil's Advocate, but they want to be taken seriously. They want to be portrayed as the "grown up" of the conversation. And the press often treats them so.

I beat Celeste a few days ago. It's the hardest game I've ever beaten without getting angry. I've played much harder games but it takes a few rage quits first. Hell I've played EASIER games that have made me mad. But Celeste? Not even a whine or grunt. I struggled, but peacefully.

Not much to say. It's a cute manga that manages to tie the Shadow Generations to the Chao collecting mechanic added to Sonic Generations. It's 10 pages and very simple, but a worthwhile read nonetheless.

Sucked into the White Space, the Shadow Chao sets out to rescue all the Chao. All goes well until he rescues Sonic Chao, which is always the popular one, stealing the glory of the heroic actions. They're not too unlike Sonic and Shadow themselves.

Sonic × Shadow Generations × Chao, written by Ian Flynn with artists Min Ho Kim and Misa Shion. This is a weird one, it's not technically IDW, but like many recent Sonic games, it's a comic tied to a new release. Despite being written by Ian Flynn, it's a self proclaimed manga, with Japanese SFX.

It's the guy from the first issue. It's been a few arcs since we've last seen him, but he's learned to be a lot braver. Even if he couldn't stop the Metal Virus, Vista View is his home, and he'll fight to protect it.

The manual says the GameCube controller works. It makes perfect sense because this game released on the PS2, so why wouldn't there be a gamepad control scheme lol. But it's weird that thr Wii box itself didn't say a thing.

It's odd to me that Whisper's wisps would just steal food from a guy. It doesn't seem like she told them to steal. But I gotta admit it's funny to see Jet not hear a catastrophe behind him because he's yelling about his TUMMY 😅. Reminds me of Chaotix Casefiles when he couldn't hear a car coming.

So, I'm a bit lost here. I thought that if there was no crisis to solve, maybe he came here of his own accord. But he said he doesn't why he was SENT here. Does Silver not go to the past on his own? If he doesn't do the time travelling, who does?
