Admittedly, my position is very privileged. Especially in regards to my handling of Alastor. I just don't know how other folk are expected to navigate the fictional realm with him sometimes. I'm, admittedly, a free spirit. I write what I personally enjoy. I also consume 'dead dove rottting in bad'-type content. And because of this, I've no real leg to stand on. I'm in a comfortable position where I'm black /and/ asexual. Thus I don't really think too hard about it.

I think it's inevitable someone will try to confront me about how I depict Alastor. Of course, I won't - like - balk at it. Because I'm writing based off of mine and my family's history. I dunno how this kind of shit should be approached, honestly.

Admittedly, I'm a DD/Darkfic writer. I write and read about really intense subjects. Thus my perspective is skewed. To me that comic is 'light work, no reaction'. Maybe it's just me not getting how this can be seen negatively. I don't police other people. And I don't like being policed.

To add to this. I write problematic content with Alastor. After growing up with trauma films and dealing with racism/prejudice as a black woman from the south, I like exploring these dynamics. I write it. Constantly.

I am - also - a black person. And I’m wondering if it gets to a point where only black people are allowed to bring these ideas to life. Because, for one thing, I find the idea to be quite good. And I’m happy I got to see it in the first place.

I've been observing all of this with open curiosity. AI is very firmly supplanting itself within creative works and publishing. And because 'Pandora's box' is open, how it'll evolve and interact with the aforementioned spaces.

I do feel bad for a fair number of readers, though. It's a sort of panic that causes folks to jump at shadows and second-guess everything they consume. They can't simply enjoy what they're reading due to the anxiety. And the most interesting part is that AI isn't going away.

The accusations have been spiraling out of control as of late. It's recently ramped up. The only saving grace is that it's mostly in the Heated Rivalry/The Pitt/Stranger Things fandom. It's a sort of panic/paranoia that is rampant. I predict folks will eventually tire themselves out.

I've found myself considering keeping my work relatively private because of the attention. So many people have access to you. And fandom spaces are overly saturated in negativity - and that negativity has the potential to ruin your relationship with your work. That's a major fear of mine.

I'm in full agreement. I tend to associate only with a tight, relatively small circle of darkfic enthusiasts in my fandom. It minimizes drama overall. My only 'issue' is that I've a fair amount of fanart/animatics/art associated with my work. So it has attracted more attention than I fancied.

I actually came across an accusation related to your fic on Tiktok. And I hate that it's happening to you. I'm thankful I've only had one relatively minor accusation that amounted to a single comment. But it still stings a tad. It dampens our love for our respective fandoms.
