Chiitan loves transgender people 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Even a plain statement like this now brings slander and insults, but I think a society where people can live happily as themselves matters more than silence, so I will keep saying it until the account is gone. love everyone🤍

I'd love for more cons to make their own tradition/trend that makes the con special and memorable. ribbon cons are fun in that even attendees bring them, they make the super long trains and hold fun events around em. stickers can actually be much cheaper to produce, especially roll stickers. 👍

010

🍖BeefxCake🍖 @beefxcake.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

its just more expense that's expected to be given out or with minimal purchase and it's just not helping anyone I feel XD I do make ribbons for some cons but I'm honestly not going to unless its a specific ribbon con like ALA where it's part of the community vibe and expected.

🍖BeefxCake🍖 @beefxcake.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

and it really popped up recently? when i started doing cons a decade ago they were not a thing XD

110

🍖BeefxCake🍖 @beefxcake.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

like I see everyday how artists are struggling to make ends meet, even those in the con circuit, we can trim the fat a bit on the free disposables instead of trying to increasingly normalize expensive con trends at every con we go to.

Is it fun for one or two events a year because it's a main focus for the con? sure! I can do that, but does EVERY con need to do it? NO! we barely make money as it is let alone bringing along $100-$300+ in disposable badge ribbons 🧍‍♂️it feels bad! I don't wanna do em!

160

🍖BeefxCake🍖 @beefxcake.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

My hot 💥 take today is I hate how every con became a ribbon con. Idc if it's fun for attendees they are EXPENSIVE and it doesn't translate to better sales or customer experience/service/retention/ etc. most people are caught off guard when they get one at an event that doesn't normally do em!

you can create a very enticing display for even just a couple of books. but even if your story is amazing and the art is great, a better display will probably translate to more interest and sales of that comic if you try and brand yourself a little more than some simple risers on a blank tablecloth

000

🍖BeefxCake🍖 @beefxcake.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Imma add one other thing, This idea that the small indie creator is just too small next to a booth with more stuff on it, whether it's fanart or not, your booth IS your business in that con. you choose how to represent yourself and your work, it's ALL marketing regardless of how you feel about that

110

🍖BeefxCake🍖 @beefxcake.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

yeah!! im bringing my tiny film camera and i can get them sent to me digitally and now im like, cookin idears. I wanna do stuff with em! the candidness is fun!

🍖BeefxCake🍖 @beefxcake.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Also not shifting the blame from the con curators that just let this happen lol. nowadays most cons are jurying now and absolutely see what your booth is going to be before you get accepted, this dynamic should bother them if their goal truly is to showcase indie comics

130

🍖BeefxCake🍖 @beefxcake.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

no one asked but i've seen this image a couple times now. There are specific conventions for specific topics for a reason. if you have both, indie comics and fanart, hone it down to fit the con. I don't take my fanart to furry cons or medical art conferences. i could and would curate my booth for it
