My daughter had the same experience. Got a wound infection while on vacation in UK. Visited the ER daily for IV antibiotics until they decided she needed surgery. Admitted for 3 days. Total cost only because we were American $2800. Had she gotten sick here, I think she would have lost her joint.

My daughter volunteers as a ticket taker at the OR Shakespeare festival. The scanner makes a light saber like sound each time it scans a ticket. 100 times a night she hears “oh it’s like Star Wars.” She just smiles “I’ve never heard that one before.”

I have Spotify and this song has never once been served to me. So ya know, whose fault is it really? 🤔😂

1. Check your voter registration daily. 2. Take a dated screenshot on the last day of registration 3. If for any reason you are denied access at a polling place, request a provisional ballot and do not leave until it is submitted. 4. Cure your provisional ballot through the elections office.

Check your voter registration often. Check again on the last day of registration in your state. Take dated screenshots! And if for any reason you are told at the polls you are not registered, you have the right to cast a provisional ballot. Do not leave until you do!

The corporate AI arms race is going to be the death of us all.

But also, it’s not Dear Leader’s fault. The big smart man was tricked. 🙄

Valid! At least they aren’t all Trump voters. Some are just selfish assholes. 😂

But it was never 51%. So many people stayed home. When we all vote, we win.

It wasn’t that long ago that Texas had a Democratic governor! 30 years to be exact. This could easily come to pass.

EA is a specific philosophy that says one should only donate to organizations that have the highest immediate “ROI”; most gain for the least $ (think mosquito nets for malaria). It doesn’t seek out long term and systemic changes to fix problems. Still have no idea how that applies to the DOD post. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Many in this thread are missing the macro point. EA is a specific philosophy that says one should only donate to organizations that have the highest “ROI.” That means most gain for the least $ (think mosquito nets for malaria). I suspect a child’s joy would be very low on the measurable gains list.

Becky Blair @becxas.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
“Best way to give aid” translates to direct and immediate measurable gain (ROI on donations). It is not rooted in finding long term solutions or systemic causes of problems.

It’s applying capitalism to altruistic pursuits. Bound to work out great.

Shit I didn’t know what it meant until 20 minutes ago when I read an article about it. I’m still confused by the post FWIW

This was a great article and made it easy to see why grading altruism on a short-term return on investment scale will never solve the largest problems facing us!

Yep. It’s not because we are broke AF, have misused our assets and it turns out the government doesn’t have any interest in bailing us out.

It’s all market manipulation working to tank the stock ahead of the IPO.

And if I remember correctly statements made as a candidate are not “in his duties as President” and therefore are not covered my his blanket immunity. Not that anyway plans to hold his morally bankrupt ass accountable.

A Science Direct study found that the vast majority of hospitalizations on bicycles are from single bicycle crashes, not vehicle-bicycle crashes. In another study, helmets were found to reduce head injuries in a crash by 48% regardless of vehicle involvement.

I just find this hard to believe when every time I’m forced to use AI, it generates repeated wrong answers about everything!

Yep that’s right. I don’t call it anything but I have absolutely heard this from my Texan dad.

This is me arguing with Salesforce’s AI to open a support ticket. It’s infuriating. PS… we found a bug that SF had to push an emergency patch to the entire system to fix. But please continue to point me to my settings. 🙄

Genuine question… why is no one wearing a helmet? Any fall from a bike can cause a head injury, not just one where a car is involved?

It’s the fucking worst

And the manufactured fear that all e-bikes go 50+ mph, are causing all the injuries ER docs see and should be outlawed. 🙄

We live in a small Oregon town. My daughter’s ebike was stolen from a trailhead while she was hiking. Within 48 hrs, she knew who did it, recovered the destroyed bike and the police charged kids with felonies. I was so happy we got the support we did.

I spend about half the month with migraines. I can’t read with my eyes without compounding my headache ten-fold. But I sure can read with my ears!

Not only would my own work not suffer, but I could stop parsing AI convos and documents from incompetent dipshits trying to figure out what the hell they are trying to say!

That has not been my experience at the county level. I’m a precinct chair and committee member in our County party. However it’s run by retirees on a very rigid structure. DSA isn’t, which appeals to younger people and/or those who would prefer more informal structures. Many of us work for both.
050
Becky Blair @becxas.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
I did this during the pride parade and have been serving on a committee ever since. I also agree with many that the experience has had some disappointments on how rigid the party is. Most of us also work with Indivisible and the DSA, both of which are run by younger people. It’s a both/and game!

Exactly! Nothing like a super authentic conversation with your machine!

Becky Blair @becxas.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
I just had a similar conversation at work. If you use AI to respond to conversational messages in Teams and Slack, I’m going to assume you are lazy and very bad at your job!

Universal Healthcare will be on the ballot in Oregon in 2028!! Along with Medicaid and Medicare expansions, states should adopt universal coverage which will in time force the federal governments hand.

We are now using the word “apparently” to describe facts. Was it “apparently” deadly, apparently a shooting or apparently involved ICE?

That was an absolutely not written by him. No oddly capitalized words and it uses correct sentence structure. I’m sure the sentiment is his but he didn’t write that.

Years ago I argued with a lady online that libraries served no purpose because she believed that only “the rich” used them so it was public tax money subsidizing rich people’s reading habits. 🙄
