I've found an open source project called Shotcut I'm currently trying and at first glance I'm liking it! I can record VO directly, cutting and moving clips is easier than Resolve or Lightworks, and I HAVE A GODDAMN NOISE GATE

I'm well aware Da Vinci Resolve is the best program currently, it just honestly has TOO many features for me and I can't find what I need without jumping through hoops. I don't need an industry standard program for editing YT shorts, I need something more streamlined

Premiere was borderline unusable on my PC. Da Vinci Resolve was overcomplicated. Capcut is mobile only and owned by TikTok. Microsoft Clipchamp was AI-powered bloat. Lightworks gives you no audio control and its a pain to cut a clip. WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO WIN...

There is by FAR more fanfic that's respectful of creators and their boundaries and does more in line with the series and character its stemming from. It's heartbreaking over the years to hear constant devaluation of my main craft (writing) because of this misunderstanding. Writing is art too!

as someone who's been in fandom for years, there is not more "weird stuff" in fanfic than fanart. You just have the weird tags and accs blocked for fanart because its a visceral visual reaction, and you need to set it up for fanfic searches too

always really bums me out when mcyts say that they will actively seek out and LOVE fanart, but avoid fanfics. SPECIFICALLY because 99% of the time its because "they find weird stuff" the devaluation of fan writing in comparison to fanart kind of icks me out tbh
