#NowWatching Sometimes you want to feel real good and need some help getting there.

Beau Smith @beausmith.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Went to the theater 5 times last week, no stopping anytime soon since there's no end of amazing looking stuff. As for this? LGBT film and Iowa is involved somehow. As someone from Iowa, thats all the incentive I need!

They have sour Mike and Ikes now but they're just not the same. Zours were ridiculously sugary and sour for a mainstream candy.

#NowWatching The opening scene and the credits, and the placement of the cast names, already got me in the emotional place. 2025's Omaha

Poster for the film Omaha, which depicts an adult man and two kids, he is their father. The kids are sitting on the car in the middle of the outdoors, mountains in the distance. The man, presumably their father, is staring in the opposite direction.

Censor, 2021. Its like Taxi Driver but with horror movies, lost sisters and written, directed and starring women. It is a TRIP.

Really surprised no one mentioned this fantastic example. Great in terms of bargaining and labor rights but also acknowledges the unsung work leftist women especially have made in terms of making any and all progress, and it doesnt let leftist mens sexism off the hook.

First film of 2026! #MovieDay Damn this brings back the joy of film dissection and class viewings in high school and college. Stunning Black and White Photography. Such a joyous celebration of film, i hope it gets a physical release someday!

#NowWatching #MovieNight 2002's May Meant to watch this Halloween night but I had to work. Been awhile. Angele Bettis pulls off such a complicated character and makes her feel so real. No emotion feels forced, even when the character is forcing herself into new territory. Love this one.

#nowwatching #movietime 2024's The Rule of Jenny Pen. If you can handle rather awful moments of elder abuse, its one hell of a horror/thriller. Incredibly engaging and it evoked my empathy effortlessly.

#movienight #nowwatching when you're recovering from getting a flu shot and covid shot, a loving bad movie is exactly what the doctor ordered. 1993 earnest cheesy goodness. Fun post apocalyptic Canadian sci fi Kung Fu. What's not to love?

Beau Smith @beausmith.bsky.social · 07/09/2025

#Insomniatheater #movienight #movieearlymorning Dealing with the aches and insomnia that comes from flu/covid shots, so I watched 2021's Aloners. Good, hypnotic film about how we unknowingly alienate ourselves from the world and slowly numb ourselves not only out of pain, but out of decisions.

#movienight #justwatched Fair Play Holy Crap Netflix, you netted quite the surprisingly intense dedicated little relationship drama! Honesty and logical results of emotional characters doesn't always end well. The ending genuinely caught me off guard. Phoebe Dynevor is sensational.
