Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 10/11/2025CoPilot in Visual Studio Code is great. CoPilot in Visual Studio, is barely usable. 000
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 05/11/2025As a New Englander, it saddens me that "steak tips" aren't a thing in the West. 010
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 11/10/2025Pellet Stoves just aren't economical anymore. On a related note, anyone in Colorado looking for a pellet stove? 010
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 06/10/2025It snowed at my house last night. Winter is here in Colorado. 😂 120

Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 20/08/2025Poor leadership isn’t some abstract problem. It shows up in missed deadlines, burned-out people, and broken trust. Once a team stops believing things can be different, you’ve already lost more than deadlines. 020
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 12/08/2025About to hit the salt. Salmon season has arrived in the Puget Sound! 020
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 23/07/2025I've been fishing a lot (like, alot alot) on my 3WT Echo Carbon XL & Orvis Battenkill Click this summer. It's by far my favorite rod combo I have. It's so much fun on the water! #flyfishing #orvis #echo 150
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 22/07/2025This so much. Sometimes process reveals culture. Tools may even amplify it. They are just mirrors. If you don't like what they show, the mirror isn't the problem. 141
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 16/07/2025It's great to see the badge program grow from an idea to a successful recognition program. Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 02/07/2025Speaking of fishing. I headed up to the High Country for some beauties last weekend. Happy Summer! 040
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 02/07/2025In-between fishing/camping trips, I try to find time to work on @community.ms #PnPjs I'm liking my new Office but my coworker keeps asking for treats and ear scratches. #Microsoft365 #PnP 010
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 27/06/2025I'm thinking of starting a business where I just come in and write auth code for companies struggling to do it. Having trouble getting OAuth to work in your Apps for M365? Having trouble integrating third party auth flows into your applications? I'll come in, write some code, and leave. Auth4U! 120
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 26/05/2025+1 Gemini worked! 4o, Claude 3.5 both failed to generate unique guids for me. 010
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 26/05/2025Super Interesting. It's just start at a seed value and just iterating over and updating each part of the sequence. 110
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 26/05/2025I asked Github Copilot (4o) to generate me a unique guid... this is what it generated. 8h9i0j1k-2l3m-4n5o-6p7q-8r9s0t1u2v3w Apparently it just thinks a Guid is a number followed letter. Anyone seeing similar? 120
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 23/05/2025A reminder to my friends in software. It's a bad idea to do a deployment on Fridays. It's an even worse idea to do a deployment on a Friday on a Holiday Weekend. You WILL NOT interrupt my shenanigans. I have Pork Butt to smoke!! 010
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 22/05/2025I'll give people the benefit of the doubt. These folks aren't SharePoint experts, and as we know SharePoint is quite nuanced. However, I would have preferred a bit more validation before a post and subsequently being reposted many times on LinkedIn. 010
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 22/05/2025Follow me for more SharePoint things, and other non-sense! Here's a photo of my dogs for internet points! 030
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 22/05/2025❗ This is why SharePoint consultants always put a heavy emphasis on SharePoint Permissions. Many organizations aren't aware of how SharePoint permissions work which often leads to data leaks into Organizations. 210
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 22/05/20255. Based on the all the above, it's safe to say that CoPilot is working as intended. It is executing on behalf of the user and using the permissions the user has. It did not access content the user didn't already have access to. 110
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 22/05/20254. "This also provided a method to circumvent the download restrictions of the “Restricted View” privilege" This circumvented nothing. Because the user has proper permissions to view the contents of the file as i noted. They could already do this themselves had the SharePoint preview not loaded. 110
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 22/05/20253. If the user didn't have permission to view the file, they wouldn't have seen it in the SharePoint listing. SharePoint permissions don't work the way the blog post is describing. If the user actually didn't have permissions, it would not have visible in the library in the first place. 110
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 22/05/20252. User has "Restricted View" This gives the user the ability to read the file, just not download the file. Ergo, they have permission to get access to the contents of the file. SharePoint failed to load to preview, not because of "Restricted View". It just failed. 110
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 22/05/20251. "Notably, in this case all methods of opening the file in the browser had been restricted." No. It wasn't restricted. This is common in SharePoint Online, can happened with any file for any number of reasons (corruption, file type, etc). Look, I'm a Global Admin and I can't preview a file. 110
Beau Cameron @beaucameron.com · 22/05/2025This post is very misleading. The user had "Restricted View"—they could access the file. SharePoint’s preview failed due to a rendering error, not permissions. CoPilot acted within the user’s rights. The issue isn’t a security gap, it’s a misunderstanding of how SharePoint works. 230
