I can't believe it took me until today to notice the similarity of these two covers: Driving Rain (Paul McCartney) – February 2001 Electric Arguments (The Fireman: Paul McCartney and Youth) – November 2008

The duality of Wikipedia:

"The hoax was found out, but the exhibition attracted some attention – in particular from the Beatles, who approached him to design the cover of their self-titled 1968 album. They decided against using his work, but it was subsequently used for the 1980 compilation The Beatles Ballads."

"The cover art by "Patrick" (John Byrne) is often incorrectly cited as being made as a potential album cover for The Beatles ("The White Album"); however, it was originally created for Alan Aldridge's The Beatles Illustrated Lyrics."

'In Liverpool' is the first entry in Blackbird Singing (2001) by Paul McCartney. "Walking with the boys of Dungeon Lane Aimlessly towards a muddy shore Telling tales about the Chinese farm And getting captured... I spent my early life in Liverpool Something I'm not likely to forget"

According to Richard Lester, the exclamation mark was added to the Beatles' Help! because there was already another film called Help. www.theguardian.com/uk/2007/nov/...

The director said this month that he and the writers wanted to call the film Help, but another film already existed with the same title. The addition of the exclamation mark meant the band were legally free to use the name and John Lennon and Paul McCartney set about writing a title song. 'That afternoon, John and Paul borrowed the studio piano and started work. By the next morning, they played the finished song to us and recorded it the next night,' said Lester.

You're welcome! The book is a treasure trove of 60s art. Here's how that pic appears in it:

Hi, sorry, I've only just seen this. It sounds like the pic is by Alan Aldridge, from the Illustrated Lyrics book (for the song There's A Place). No idea about an album though, sorry.

There's only so much that will fit in a post, but there's nothing stopping you from clicking the links 🙂

Paul McCartney was on holiday in Scotland, and Ringo Starr was filming Candy in Italy.

Some new arrivals, thanks to eBay. May I inquire discreetly: When are you free to take some tea with me? 🎵
