CB Inktober (c'mon, can't we just call it cassettober?) Extra Prompt: Draw your favorite character i always loved this monologue so u KNOW i had to draw him aurafarming #cassettebeasts @byttenstudio.bsky.social

a digital illustration of eugene cassette beasts and robindam from cassette beasts. Eugene is posed dramatically with a finger gun pointing left with Robindam with an arrow nocked behind him aiming in the same direction, as though he is directing the Robindam to fire. text in a somewhat graffiti lettering style reads "So they don't do anything, and things just get worse. It's the SAME OLD STORY!" in a dramatic flair quoting Eugene's monologue at the climax of his quest.

Hard agree. I could've made it more clear that head-to-head/s was past matches they've had, I misspoke when I was typing that since it was pretty late my end. Talking about differences in past encounters as well would really help show how in-depth the games can get too.

Cherubic @beastsoulfury.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I also wish we had a better database for competitive history the way that CS has HLTV or Valorant has vlr dot gg. I've been trying to do research and it's been tough because things like RK9 aren't laid out well, and Pikalytics et al are fine but don't show any of the human element.

011

Cherubic @beastsoulfury.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Showing some head-to-head matches or past encounters two players have gotten through can help seed in a storyline. Dead air and lengthy pauses are nowhere near the issue it used to be but I still think there's room to make it less dry and bring in a more human element.

I've generally been super impressed with how much better official VGC broadcasts have gotten. I don't have a full writeup in me yet about how absolutely massive the improvements have been over the past year and a half or so, but there is one thing I'd like to see come up.

Both are good, but as a fan Sacred Stones is probably one of the best introductions to the series! I think with Golden Sun, it's mostly good for later getting the narrative payoffs in its sequel along with having some genuinely good mechanics.

I'm a tokusatsu enthusiast so I'm biased, but I love Baxcalibur. Super tricky to use IME, very much a high-risk-high-reward Pokemon...which, that tends to be my preference anyways.

Yeah, if memory serves all of the team hit the field at least once, but not enough to get proper estimations of their stats. There are definitely some cool bits of tech on it too, big fan of Special-focused Hisuian Goodra.

010

Cherubic @beastsoulfury.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

(Side note, TBQH I think Goodra-H is also a sick countermeta pick and I'm not just saying that because I have an Alpha Goodra-H waiting in the wings if I can figure out how to recreate this team.)

It took me way too long to find this in the vod and screenshot it lmao,,, If you wanna watch it, it's Swiss round 5! Unfortunately Absol doesn't get to do much but it has gone to day 2 so hopefully we'll see it in top cut.

Secretly hoping the stats for that Mega Absol Z team that was on the Frankfurt Regionals stream drops because I kinda want to give it a go and I know I'm not going to be able to reverse engineer the EVs.

However, it's still EXTREMELY interesting, even if it's nowhere near as vile as it's put out to be. Adding in sweet floral notes to all of the hospital-y notes is fascinating. Very evocative, I would never get a bottle but I think it's absolutely worth experiencing at least once.

000

Cherubic @beastsoulfury.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

My impression: I think it's a little overhyped for how bad of an experience it is, I was prepared for way worse. The iodine/disinfectant notes are very strong, though I don't get as much blood from it, and I know I'm not nose-blind to blood because I can pick up on it in Bull's Blood.

Still jetlagged but to start slowly drip-feeding some of the stuff that happened on my trip, I'll give some happy news and say I have now gone through a niche perfume enthusiast rite of passage and got to experience Toskovat's Inexcusable Evil! A dear friend of mine lent me his tester bottle <3

I've wanted to see VGC be taken seriously as an esport for years. I didn't think we'd get to this point while I was watching back in the X/Y days, so it means a lot. I'm still very cautiously optimistic.

010

Cherubic @beastsoulfury.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

This is a huge step in the right direction, at least. My big wishes are more than just one regional a week, greater support for locals (allowing phones at them is a big deal at least since it means you won't need LAN/wireless) and expanding into MENA, India, and Oceania.

110

Cherubic @beastsoulfury.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

So, looks like this year's Worlds broke viewership numbers and seems to be having a knock-on effect of bolstering watch numbers for other Pokemon games. They've promised they're going to try and expand attendance numbers and frequency of tournaments as well.

Sorry, circling back to this. As a certifiable old man by VGC standards, seeing Takuma Yamazaki win after years of trying made me weep. Yeah, I wanted Zach Weed to bring it home after having a heater of a season, but the geezer getting his win with fellow geezer Dragonite was so poetic.

"wheres wolfe," we all chant in a circle around the candlelight. a flash appears on the pattern on the floor. wolfe glick rises from the ground, summoned onto stream for a 14th consecutive round. "please let me go home" he begs. we will not listen. the wolfepack must have its hourly incineroar memes
