Admittedly I may have been using some hyperbole there, but it’s certainly shaping up to be significantly longer than ‘The Light Between Us’. Only on the second draft so things can change a lot between now and publication, but it’s easily the longest story work I’ve written so far.

Been doing this for months, and it’s a ton of fun. Dropped a copy in one at a neighborhood park and actually saw someone the next week reading it on a bench. Which was maybe the coolest moment I’ve had so far as an author.

I’m right there with you. On one hand I get it, because nobody else is going to step up and get the word out about your work. On the other, it feels like you end up trying to sell yourself more than your story. Not sure if there is a better way, but I’d sure love to find it.

I hired an artist off of Reedsy. Counting the minor redesign for the Audible edition, it came out to somewhere around 400 bucks. Which seemed firmly middle of the road from what I saw on that platform.

I never liked working out. I know I need to, and the health benefits are undeniable, but I just never got that “exercise high” people talk about. But now after going to the gym three times a week for a year, and adjusting my diet to match I’ve found that- hah, got you. This still sucks.

Oh I’ll keep it around. Not sure if it will ever see the light of day, though. For every story I write I have a separate word doc titled “prose graveyard”. Every now and then I resurrect a zombie from there. More often they just remain corpses.
