Forever chemicals are rising in whales and dolphins globally. New paper in Marine Pollution Bulletin, by Lavinia Stokes, @kjpeters.bsky.social, @fredsaltre.bsky.social & Karen Stockin, shows PFAS are widespread in marine mammals . A warning sign for ocean health. theconversation.com/levels-of-fo...

Levels of ‘forever chemicals’ in dolphins and whales are rising globally
Nowhere is safe from forever chemical pollution – not even the middle of the ocean. PFAS levels are on the rise in the world’s whales and dolphins.

New paper out 🐨🌱 SA koala densities are exceeding habitat capacity conservation priorities. Modelling 25 years of pop growth, hab. suitability, and fertility control strategies, we found: 1) Pop growth projected at +17–25% w/out action, 2) Adult female fertility control most cost effective option.

‘Forever chemicals’ contaminate more dolphins and whales than we thought – new research
The sex and age of an animal turn out to be stronger predictors than habitat for higher PFAS levels, suggesting they accumulate over a lifetime.
