Where are Hamas's bases? Where are/were it's leaders and its tens of thousands of combatants? Much of Israel, including the IDF, does not believe that all Gazans are Hamas, but Hamas has used much of Gaza for combat purposes.

How many cases are there of military campaigns which were predominantly for the purpose of causing the population to rise up against the government?

Telling Trump "it's what dictators do" probably only excited him about a military parade. They should have said "it's what weak leaders do".

I don't think Israel would deny that it's at war with Iran. The denial here seems to be from many people who ignore that it's Iran that has been on a one-sided crusade to annihilate Israel, developing the means, and deliberately attacking Israel through proxies to then claim to be the victim.

The problem here is not that Trump "threat" (which is not genocidal), but that the term genocide has been so cheapened lately that almost any utterance made by someone they oppose is now deemed to be a threat of genocide by many scholars, politicians, human rights officials, and commentators.

Notice that they say that they stand with the "revolutionary Iranian people", meaning the regime and its supporters, not the actual Iranian people.

That lie that Israel is a warmongering nation that wants to destroy other nations is part of the very campaign to eliminate it. It's pure, unadulterated projection.

The biggest misconception/lie about the Israel-Arab-Iran conflict is that it's Israel that wanted/wants to attack, to fight wars and to annihilate other countries. In fact, it's exactly the other way around.

Most Israel haters are ignorant of, or deliberately ignore, what the Iranian regime has been doing throughout the Middle East. bsky.app/profile/bd-s...

I am quite convinced that the blocking and listing of anyone pro-Israel, Zionist, or even anyone just saying it's not a genocide, is a deliberate strategy to lower the engagement and reach of that point of view, rather than an emotional response.

"To the Islamic Republic in Iran, Millions of us have a score to settle with you, not only the Israelis... Burn for every child you sacrificed in Lebanon, in Syria, in Yemen, in Iraq, in Israel, in Gaza. Burn because the Iranian people deserve much better..."

It helps him in the very short term for sure, but in the medium to long term it will depend on the success of the strikes and the final outcome of the situation.

Imagine that. The Israeli government threatening to retaliate hard if its civilians are targeted, as opposed to Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah who use their own civilians as shields.

B. D. Sint @bd-sint.bsky.social · 13/06/2025
Israel haters want people to believe that this is about Israel attacking places and starting wars, but it's Iran, along with its axis of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah and the Houthis, that seeks the annihilation of Israel, not the other way around.

No, and using that term from the Holocaust to demonize the Jewish state is disgraceful.

International law, or that interpretation of international law, is deficient and irrelevant if it does not provide a legal way for a country to prevent its own unprovoked annihilation. Israel can't be expected to wait until the threat of nuclear attack from Iran is imminent. That would be too late.

B. D. Sint @bd-sint.bsky.social · 13/06/2025
It's hard to know how much of the decision making has been from Netanyahu and the government versus the plans and advice of the security establishment, but it's hard to argue that Israel hasn't had incredible strategic successes since the failures of Oct 7th (though of course Gaza remains unsolved).

When you feel an existential threat, calls for restraint don't tend to have much impact. So many people are completely ignoring the tiny detail of the Iranian regime's clear intention to annihilate Israel and its attempt to develop the means to carry it out.

Israel should have done more to help Ukraine. Perhaps more was done in secret, but at least these strikes in Iran will stop Iran's assistance to Russia.

Wouldn't there be radiation danger and even a danger of nuclear explosion if Israel only attacked once Iran had actual nuclear warheads?

How can Israeli's attack on Iran be unwarranted and illegal if the window of opportunity to attack Iran would soon be closed? It cannot be the case that it is illegal for a country to prevent its own unprovoked annihilation. Iran is the one that wants to annihilate Israel. Not the other way round.

Khamenei, Sinwar and Israel. Most of the news media and the commentators refuse to recognize that the authoritarians in Iran and Gaza started the wars against Israel and are intent on annihilating Israel.

Yes, I assume they would have had agents and operatives from Israel as well as locals in Iran that they recruited.

Iran has increased its stockpile of near weapons-grade uranium, nuclear watchdog says
The U.N. nuclear watchdog says Iran has further increased its stockpile of uranium enriched to near weapons-grade levels.

The Iranian regime was already driving Iran to nuclear weapons. There is no other reason to enrich uranium to 60%.

A lot of people are willfully blind to the analogous situation of Iran wanting to eliminate Israel just as Russia wants to eliminate Ukraine, with no reciprocal enmity by Israel or Ukraine. People's deep hatred of Israel prevents any recognition of that fact (and many others).

B. D. Sint @bd-sint.bsky.social · 13/06/2025
I think it's a mistake to see Israel's strikes against Iran as related to Netanyahu's domestic political survival. Almost all Israeli political leaders from Right to Left support the strikes, which have been in the works for years, and there really seems to have been a unique window of opportunity.

Just to add that is seems that Israel used much more than just drones from within Iranian territory.
020
B. D. Sint @bd-sint.bsky.social · 13/06/2025
It was never some new and unprecedented tactic. There have always been covert offensive operations in enemy territory in one form or another. What's new now is the addition of highly capable drones. Having said that, it's not easy to do and both of these have been amazing operations.

Israel has adeptly turned the severe failures surrounding Oct 7th into significant strategic successes against Iran and its proxies. I don't think anyone could have predicted such an outcome. I give most of the credit the Israeli security establishment, but maybe the government deserves some too.

The time frame for "preemption" of a nuclear attack by a regime openly intent on destroying a country, given the intolerable risk of even one nuclear bomb or missile hitting, is different. It would be too late to launch a "preemptive" strike once Iran already has many nuclear ballistic missiles.
010
B. D. Sint @bd-sint.bsky.social · 13/06/2025
1. This ignores that Iran has already attacked Israel, directly and indirectly through proxies. 2. It cannot be that there is no legal way for a country to prevent its own unprovoked annihilation. 3. The US wasn't threatening to annihilate Japan and developing the means to do it in an instant.
120
B. D. Sint @bd-sint.bsky.social · 13/06/2025
And so could Gaza, Lebanon and Yemen, but the Iranian regime also played a big role in ruining those places.
060
B. D. Sint @bd-sint.bsky.social · 13/06/2025
I don't disagree, but that doesn't conflict with what I wrote. Iran threatens to destroy Israel, so Israel threatens to destroy Iran's nuclear program to prevent that threat.

There have been numerous occasions in which Trump and others have maligned and condemned legal immigrants, and many want to stop legal immigration. Take the H-1B visas which they wanted to stop.
000
B. D. Sint @bd-sint.bsky.social · 13/06/2025
That's actually a great point that many haven't yet appreciated. These attacks by Israel on Iran's nuclear program and military are very bad for Russia and Putin and very good for Ukraine and everyone supporting Ukraine.

B. D. Sint @bd-sint.bsky.social · 13/06/2025
Two lazy/ignorant/deliberate distortions: 1. Iran and Israel are sworn enemies - WRONG. It's one sided. Only Iran wants to eliminate Israel, not the other way around. 2. It's Netanyahu - WRONG. The vast majority of Israelis and Israeli leaders, from Right to Left, support this preemptive attack.

Gabbard's video about nuclear holocaust was clearly a pro-Kremlin propaganda piece designed to diminish support for US aid to Ukraine, and maybe also pro-Iran propaganda against a US or Israeli strike against Iran's nuclear sites.
