Literally loads of people are saying it should be legal. I would say probably half the people think that spanking children should be legal. And that's probably a conservative estimate.

Not necessarily. It depends on the severity and circumstances. Regardless it should be illegal.

My favourite movie as a kid by far. Must've watched this movie 40 times.

Statistically teams that go down 2-0 how about a 1/6 chance of coming back to win the series. Those aren't terrible odds it's very doable. Let's Go Blue Jays!

Public Servants are going to be leaving the BCNDP after this strike. Eby doing everything he can to loose the next election.

Hey @davidebybc.bsky.social and @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social. I see youve issued more lies about what BCGEU is asking for. Where did you get that $1.9bn number? Out of a hat? How does a 4.5% increase for 35,000 employees equal $1.9bn? How much money do you think we all make? #bcgeu #solidarity #strike

Hey @davidebybc.bsky.social and @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social. The ratio of excluded management positions to union workers has crept up to 1-to-3. If we reduce it down to a more reasonable 1-to-4 ratio we would save $275m/yr. The current BCGEU proposal only ads $91m/yr. 🤯 #bcgeu #solidarity #strike

@davidebybc.bsky.social If the BCPS eliminated the all ADM positions across the board we could save $17m/year. Not to mention the boost in productivity from leadership teams nat having to sit in ADM meeting that accomplish nothingm #bcgeu #solidarity #publicservants

Hey @davidebybc.bsky.social! Ive got another cost saving measure. In the public service we have these people called "Assistant Deputy Ministers". Im not sure if you know this but they dont actually do anything beside send out emails that everyone deletes pretty much immediately. #bcgeu #solidarity

Hey @davidebybc.bsky.social, what’s it like to never worry about you and your kids being evicted? Or to never have to fight tooth and nail just to earn a fair wage? Must be nice making decisions about working families from such a safe perch. #bcpoli #bcgeu #publicservants #strike #unions

Hey @davidebybc.bsky.social @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social I fixed the budget problems!! Please review my mosest proposal. We have so much wealth in this province. sone of that wealth can go to helping servants who have to work 2 jobs to feed their kids. #EbytheConservitive #BCGEU #Strike #Unions

@davidebybc.bsky.social @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social when did you guys stop being the party of the working class? Are public servants worth less this year than they were last year? Or can you not hear me over your $340k salary or your net worth? #BCGEU #EbytheConservitive #BCGEUstrike

Hey @davidebybc.bsky.social @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social Thanks for lying today about the previous cntrct. No, they didn't do well it was a pay cut. Why was it okay to give MLAs a giant increases for no reason in 2024? Average BCGEU worker can't afford a bac appt? When did the NDP turn conservative?

Both me and one of my parents are undiagnosed adults. There's a lot of pain and misery that goes along with being undiagnosed. A lifetime of confusion and overstimulated exhaustion that you have to hide just to marginally fit in...

All within the margin of error though. And the CPC needs a majority to govern. See the 1925 Canadian election.
100
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 26/04/2025
They don't "decide", it's based on their polling. Mainstreet has weird methodology. They massively overestimated the BCCons in the BC election despite every other pollster predicted an NDP win. And the NDP won.
040
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 26/04/2025
There's no path to majority for the Cons right now. At best they get a plurality. But the other parties will never let the CPC govern. We'll have an almost perfect repeat of the 1925 election.
020
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 14/04/2025
Same thing happened in BC last year. Mainstreet kept showing a clear Conservative win despite all other pollsters showing a slight NDP advantage. In the end Mainstreet was way off and the others were spot on.

The 2024 poll aggregators never had Kamala this far ahead. The CPC currently has a 0% chance at a majority which is what they need to form government. Also, GenZ leans conservative in Canada. But having said that a lot can happen in 4 weeks.
011
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 26/03/2025
It never looked like Kamala had it in the bag. Polls were very 50/50 leading into the election. We're looking at a much different situation here. Still, get out and vote.

Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 19/03/2025
"High taxes" at 3% spells doom for the conservatives.
000
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
This is it. Left wing voters know that a centrist government is better than a right-wing populist one. I'm a consistent NDP voter and I would absolutely vote LPC if it would help stop a CPC candidate. Unfortunately I live in a deep-blue riding 😞
130
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 16/03/2025
... that's perplexing...
010
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 16/03/2025
Well consider that up to 40% of Canadians intend to vote conservative at the time of this poll. That means that there are people who will vote conservative but think Polievre isn't the best pick to deal with Trump....
210
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 09/03/2025
Don't need a coalition on this instance since the LPC is the incumbent. The incumbent gets first opportunity to form parliament after an election. The BQ/NDP/Greens will absolutely back the LPC over the CPC. Even the supply and confidence agreement will be superfluous.
050
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 09/03/2025
The Greens and NDP would support them as well. The CPC has to win a majority in order to govern. Even if the CPC wins more seats, the LPC would attempt to form government as the incumbent and would be successful. The conservatives have really painted themselves into a corner with their rhetoric.

Carney is completely different from Trudeau to quite a severe degree. It's whether the electorate knows that.

It's so sad. I have people in my life who believe that prices will plummet if we get rid of the carbon tax. The math just doesn't agree with them.

Modern American Evangelicalism is so far removed from the teachings in the New Testament that I don't think it even qualifies as Christianity any more.

His older misogynistic stuff is pretty cringey nowadays but he seems to be slowly moving towards sanity in the last few years. Especially since COVID. Hoping he keeps it up.

2/2... Now they can't deal with the fact that they've lost some of that power to the progressives. It offends them that their traditional framework is no longer the default.

Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 19/02/2025
Cancel culture isn't real, at least in the way right-wingers say it is. Societies have always shamed and tried to expel people who went against that society's moral standards. The difference is that in the past it was conservatives doing the cancelling (Dixie Chicks anyone?)...

I don't love the idea of being "proud" to be Canadian. Pride comes from accomplishing some difficult task. Pride is a weird thing to feel for your nationality. I'm definitely happy that I'm Canadian, love living here, and feel super lucky that I was born here.

Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 12/02/2025
We dont need a party that's going to kowtow to the MAGA machine Libs did OK. Lowest inflation in the G7, low COVID death rates. But where they failed the Con would've failed even harder Anyone that thinks that the C's are going to make housing cheaper, boost wages, and fix healthcare is delusional

Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 12/02/2025
I agree. But at least it's better than PP.
160
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 11/02/2025
And this is a telephone pole which skew conservative... This is really bad for the CPC
010
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 06/02/2025
Creating a party out of nowhere? The ALP has existed for 120 years. Oldest continuously active party in Alberta. Otherwise you're right. They should suspend operations until the end of the next election.
010
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 06/02/2025
Oh, Trudeau sucks ass. Don't misunderstand me. But a Conservative win isn't guaranteed. They need a majority to "win". Even if they win the most seats in a plurality, the opposition parties will likely work together to give confidence to the LPC. Support for the CPC is shedding.
000
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 05/02/2025
It doesn't even have to be a coalition. Supply & Confidence agreements can provide a lot of stability too. And we've had plenty of stable minority governments with or without either of those. This person just obviously never paid attention in civics class.
010
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 05/02/2025
Canadians literally don't want a Conservative government lol. Numbers are hard eh?
100
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 05/02/2025
Lol. I love how it's all about what "Canadians want" until the numbers don't agree with you. No matter which way you cut it, Canadians don't want a Conservative majority.
000
Willie Astles @bcwilliam.bsky.social · 04/02/2025
2/2...And if we're talking about what people want, only 38% of Canadians approve of PP. While JT and JS have a combined approval of 66%. So to call an election and hand the Conservatives an underserved majority goes against want "Canadians want"
