I didn't know they were magic beans when I planted them! I'm going to be rich! 💰

Spent the first half of yesterday birdwatching and it was the best day I've had in a long time. My favourite thing about the prairies is definitely the #birds.

2 American coots (black birds with white beaks) and 6 of their babies with little red heads floating in the water behind some reeds.

American white pelican flying low above the water. There are 3 Western Grebes and 2 brown ducks in the water below (barely visible).

A brown bird (believe it is Swainson’s hawk) sitting on a fence post next to a small bird house.

Over a dozen double-crested cormorants swimming with pelicans.

There are a ton of birds nesting out here right now. One of my favourites is the yellow headed blackbird. 💛

I’ve already found a spot for them. 💗

A bookshelf filled with books and several keepsakes: 2 small clay bears, a trilobite fossil, 2 small rocks, and a Mexican tile with a stylized jaguar.

35+ cm of snow overnight is causing lots of chaos for the birds. These 2 yellow headed blackbird babies are getting some much needed rest on the porch.

This is the first year that this cactus has bloomed. I think it's 4-5 years old. It's incredibly pretty.

I love this time of year- there are baby birds everywhere! Baby crows, red-winged blackbirds, goldfinches, Baltimore orioles, barn owls, yellow-headed blackbirds, robins, meadowlarks… Shane managed to get some decent pics of the red-tailed hawks.
