Plugging this great book for the second time in as many years. Among other things, a healthy reminder that creating "new and different forms of social reality" is both possible and more important now than ever. #booksky @davidwengrow.bsky.social @davidgraeberinst.bsky.social

Please no more about that "decisive" "sweeping" win. Meet claims with counter-claims, and real numbers (about 1.6% margin).
Latest vote count shows that Trump one by smallest margins since 19th century.

Working on the river, loving how cozy this setup feels, older machine, offline forever, no updates, no crashes, software installed from actual disks. Didn’t realize how much I missed this kind of project-based design work. Paper to scanner to screen, where the fun begins. #poetry

I wrote about bees & trees in this poem that I think still wants to be an essay. Allium continues to be one of the great things about Chicago. Such an honor to be included in this new issue. #poetry
cover: Allium Journal, spring 2024Empty ≠ Silent

There are no straight lines in nature.
This is true no matter where you stand
in nature, on the nature of straight lines
& their properties, with or against, turn
or return, since nature abhors a vacuum.

Tell me this: the bees we lost over winter,
now tracked in the trees—a rogue hive,
we believe, one rare possibility or far-
fetched faith in familiar wings & hind
markings—is a line drawn between us?

I don’t know, and the not knowing
is a backlit cloud, sunrise reconfigured
by shadow into late afternoon, where lines
are both solid & dashed, restrictive & porous.

A belated theory: the story we tell
is a fault line, parallel to the one we live
out in silence. No words, no illusions,
just last year’s swarm asleep in the trees.
