Every sailing depends on the skill, experience and judgment of ferry workers, on deck, in the engine room, at terminals and behind the scenes. This World Maritime Day, we recognize every member who brings their skills and passion to work, every day. ⚓🌍

BC Ferries says better service is the result of workers, not management. But members have been waiting almost a year for a collective agreement while management got wage increases. ⏳

Local 11 marked Labour Day with good food, great company (including retired member Clive Quigley on guitar) and our union truck front and centre. 🚙 Thanks to everyone who celebrated Labour Day and honoured the workers who fought for the rights we have today.

Building ferries in B.C. would help in battle against U.S. tariffs: report
A coalition of unions and industry leaders commissioned the report, which appears 15 months after BC Ferries announced it had contracted a shipyard owned by the Chinese government to build four major vessels at a cost that's yet to be disclosed.

A new report shows what B.C. is losing, and what it'll take to build the next ferries here. Building four new ferries in Canada would add $1.5 billion to our GDP, create over 10,000 person-years of employment and generate $413 million in government revenue. Read the report at buildthemhere.ca 🛳️

Canada is at its strongest when workers have the power to speak up, organize, and stand up for their rights. This upcoming #LabourDay, we're calling on the government to protect the rights that make stronger workplaces and a stronger Canada possible.
