Well this will be an interesting opportunity to learn whether the assertion that foxes are cat firmware running on dog hardware is actually correct, I guess.

I see in a recent release that YouTube for Android has started cold launching into playing a clip it thinks I will be interested in. The program SHALL NOT do this.

And I just checked at a CVS this week -- that's still true; $206 for cash buyers.

Looks like Insta isn't giving useful previews to Bluesky. Or at least not right now. I know what you were regramming, though...

Well, it's obvious to me, certainly, and anyone I need to drive to a polling place -- I'll be free, having long since cast my vote in a dropbox. Now, whether Florida makes *driving someone to the polls* a felony before then...

Yeah, if you have insurance they're free and if you don't have insurance they're $206 cash on the barrelhead. That has been true ever since Trump killed off the subsidy program a couple of years ago.

And as it turns out the people who tell you that the NFC antenna was moved inside the chassis, from being in the battery, on the Xcover pro 6, are lying sacks. My slightly upgraded though not twice as big replacement battery did not say NFC on it and that was the problem.

So far, I'm having a good time with the new one and with Android 16, and even my ADW Launcher2 would still run, without which I would be bereft, and the only thing that was troubling me was that I was trying to dabble in NFC for payment. And I got some NFC Badges and it wouldn't read those either.

Just upgraded to a new model of cell phone for the first time in about a decade. The old one was an LG v20 which would only run Android 8 and all of my applications summarily quit working on that release. The new one is a Samsung X cover 6 Pro ruggedized phone...

What a bummer. Even though Github notes suggest it's been fixed, ConnectBot on Android 16 (on my spandy-old Xcover6 Pro) uses a non monospace font in monospace, lets you select or install a font, but still ignores those. Sorry Kenny; not marrying Github to report it's still broken.

Hey, @npr.org, @kffhealthnews.org, and @katewells.com(?)? The quote from the urgent care owner/doc, amounting to "cause it's not my business" *was the most important part of this story*, as heard on NPR air. Why was it cut from the transcripted version? www.npr.org/2026/04/08/n...

Abortion clinics are closing nationwide. Could urgent care help fill the gap?
When the only clinic that offered abortions in Michigan's rural Upper Peninsula closed, an urgent care decided to step in to fill the gap. Now, others are considering similar moves as brick-and-mortar clinics close in blue states.

I hate to tell @marketplace.org and @ryanbradley.bsky.social this, but that music is actually called production music, and it has existed since at least the late 1970s if not earlier. I have about 250 CDs worth of it in my collection.

Baylink @baylink.bsky.social · 26/03/2026
Sure, but neither of those is the solution. Take some profits out of the pockets of corporations, and put it back into wages, where it stopped going in 1980 and things haven't been the same since.

... the quora in those houses *change*. If so, the R's will be shooting themselves in the FACE -- the D's will have overwhelming majorities in both much smaller houses, and run the table. I suspect they simply won't *have* a quorum, but I haven't looked yet.

Well, the feds cannot *declare* all current registrations void -- they don't have a finger in that. The US Constitution is EXPLICIT that elections are run by the states, and the states with D govs or SecStates simply won't listen. What I don't know is whether if those states don't elect Members...

Baylink @baylink.bsky.social · 20/03/2026
Well, Senator Kelly overstates the case just a touch. SAVE itself does not *require everyone* to reregister. It merely makes registering much harder, so that when -- as a separate process -- the GOP forces states to over-purge their rolls, it's hard to get back in time. Process Matters.

Baylink @baylink.bsky.social · 02/03/2026
GOP keeps dragging the Overton Window to the right. And since *nearly all Americans* are to the right of the *objective* (DW-Nominate, et alia) center... that's pretty righty.

Pre-emptive strike: Among the lies Trump will spend 2 hours telling tonight, ones about voting insecurity are the most dangerous, and you should pretty much assume the opposite of everything he says.

The State Of Our Union is... mostly gone; Drumpf has demolished most of 250 years of work, and especially the last 80, and we will likely NEVER be able to get all of it back. Thanks, 8M Democrats who couldn't be bothered to vote against him.
