#QUEZON spoilers but the Manuel/Aurora and Manuel/Sergio parrallel running a river through the narrative with both the dances Manuel dances with them bookending the film listen, I know the tango is, historically, MLQ's favorite dance and that, musically, it is part of his motif, but consciously--

meanwhile the great tragedy of Quezon is how he fought tooth and nail and with all the dirty tactics in his book to hoard power, and how all of that meant nothing in the end, because Death really is the ultimate equalizer, and it came for him at the worst time, rendering all his efforts utterly moot

anyway!! #QUEZON SPOILERS but!!!!! the great tragedy of Luna is that he died young before he could see his armies win independence the great tragedy of Goyo is that he died young before he could properly make something of himself; a general, yes, but still very much a child consumed by war

I just realized that there's going to be a whole new generation of Filipinos who'll learn that Aurora and Manuel Quezon are first cousins. The cousintahan jokes are going to be brutal.

Time to revive the unhinged fandom tradition of giving the actors food memes related to their characters at the inevitable Artikulo Uno meet&greet. Mon Confiado receiving a bag of Flattops is a given. But I need Echo and Ben to be drowning in queso de bolas.

Vampirism being a metaphor for the predatory and exploitative practices of colonialism sets up Manuel L. Quezon!Gothic Heroine AU well, I think.
