At the end of the trip we also went to see the total solar eclipse! On the way to our viewing spot further south we also stopped at Orbaneja del Castillo, a little village hidden in the gorge of the river Ebro. The place had a beautiful waterfall and terraces like a hot spring! (9/10)

Some other places we visited was an old mine with a beautiful cave up in the mountains, a small sequoia forest and a gorgeous spring with a little grove surrounding it. Also lots of tasty Cantabrian food! (8/10)

And of course I sniffed out closest natural history museum that we visited on a day trip to Asturias 😂 Really nice place, we also got to see some real dinosaur footprints that got preserved at a nearby beach! (7/10)

Most of the time however we spent at the little holiday home of my husband's family by the sea. I can't even describe how much I have missed going to the beach and swimming in the ocean! I just loved all the rocky cliffs and tide pools with so many critters in them, we even saw some octopi! (5/10)

We also visited the beautifully preserved little medieval town of Santillana del Mar, had lunch on one of the nearby beach in Comillas and got to check out El Capricho, a building designed by Antoni Gaudí! (4/10)

Once you cross the mountains the dry and empty landscapes of central Spain suddenly turned green and lush in Cantabria! We first stayed with my sister in law in a small mountain village, had tasty seafood in Santander and visited the stunning Altamira Cave Museum! 😍 (3/10)

Took me a bit to find the time, but here is a little thread of our recent trip to the North of Spain earlier this month! Starting in Madrid we drove North and had a first little stop in the beautiful medieval city of Burgos which has an absolutely stunning cathedral! (1/10)

On the way back on our last trip we also visited the medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber! I think the Americans in particular will recognize that first spot, it's apparently one of the most famous tourist sites in Germany.

Having a bit of vacation time, so me and the husband went to a rather famous place: Neuschwanstein castle at the foot of the alps! The inside is just as gorgeous as the outside (sadly no photos allowed in there) and views with the snowcovered mountains were just incredible!

Extremely excited because over Christmas they finally removed the last scaffolding inside our beautiful gothic church. It's the first time in 8 years you can see the entire thing uninhibited, renovatting all the windows really took quite a while!

Es war schön zu sehen, dass das LfU mit so einem tollen Fund auf der #MunichShow vertreten war! Ich muss aber sagen, dass die Verwendung von billigen KI Bildern für die Illustrationen doch ziemlich enttäuschend war. Da hätte ich mir vom LfU etwas mehr Qualität erwartet! :/

Saw lots of fun arts and craft at the festival and on the way back home we saw THE BIG CHICKEN, a local landmark (it actually moved!). We ended the day with a fire and some marshmallow/s'mores, a perfect end for our vacation!

On the way back we also made a stop at Buc-ee's which is basically a a mix of giant gas station, retail store and food court. It's so hard to describe, like I have never seen this much merch of a random company's mascot. Very fun though, definitely wanna visit that again.

There was also an area in the park called fairytale cavern, but since it is the spooky season, the displays were a bit redecorated...I almost lost it at all those random skeletons 😂

Yesterday we visited a place called Stone Mountain, basically a gigantic rocl made of granite that you can get up to with a cablecar. It has a huge carving of some confederate leaders on its side (boooo), but the views from the top are amazing (yay!).You even can see Atlanta in the distance!
