bauerj2424.bsky.social @bauerj2424.bsky.social · 31/08/2025Tell me again what the Jays gave up for Myles Straw other then taking on some salary? @wilnerness.bsky.social 000
bauerj2424.bsky.social @bauerj2424.bsky.social · 19/08/2025The Blue Jays took on $11.8M of the $15.55M remaining guarantee on Myles Straw's contract (2 years). At ~$8.2M per WAR (fangraphs), he has been worth the following through 3/4 of year 1 of the deal. 1.3 fWAR - $10.7M 2.0 bWAR - $16.2M But they gave up so much to get him! @wilnerness.bsky.social 000
bauerj2424.bsky.social @bauerj2424.bsky.social · 17/08/2025That’s some weak sauce. You said there was no need to “give up what they did” for him but you also know as a professional that they gave up nothing for him. The fact that you didn’t reply to me with what it was that they gave up for him is you admitting they gave up nothing. 000
bauerj2424.bsky.social @bauerj2424.bsky.social · 16/08/2025So you agree now that they actually didn’t give up anything to get him? That’s also a pretty bad comparison if you look at their best and worst seasons compared to each other. This idea that they gave up something valuable to get him is fiction. 100
bauerj2424.bsky.social @bauerj2424.bsky.social · 16/08/2025What did they give up exactly? Was some well regarded player or prospect sent over without it being announced to the world? As of this second they gave up nothing and simply took on his contract. A very very weird hill to die on. 100
bauerj2424.bsky.social @bauerj2424.bsky.social · 16/08/2025It’s ok to admit that it was a crazy reaction at the time. Taking on his money was a drop in the bucket for a billion dollar franchise. Altering the entire direction of the franchise because of one incredibly minor trade is nuts. His play this year, be it good or bad, is irrelevant to your rant. 100
bauerj2424.bsky.social @bauerj2424.bsky.social · 16/08/2025Imaging wanting to fire the entire front office of the likely AL East winners because of the Straw trade. 100
