Fine, but I’m Carl Weathers. I look forward to more of your questions. If you ever don’t agree, feel free to pushback. With the exception of finding out that Larry Schexnayder was Hooded Justice, nearly every single one of my findings is based on pushback I’ve received from others.

Rorschach is an awful human? Yes. Until he is broken out of prison. Then he…changes. He makes a series of ooc actions. He shows his lying landlady mercy, apologizes to Dan, and then prevents Dan from enacting further violence on a gang member. This change is important to consider.

At first, Ozymandias believed in true vigilantism. But then he worked his second case. He decided to pursue what truly happened to Hooded Justice. And then he realized that vigilantism is a facade. So…yes. Eventually he did realize what could be done monetarily under the guise of vigilantism.

#comicsky #booksky I believe that the Minutemen were the soul of capitalism. They basically whored themselves out for money. But the new generation didn’t understand that aspect. Rorschach and Ozymandias especially, total opposites of the spectrum, took the Minutemen at face value.

I love the character for being able to fool millions of people, including you. Unfortunately your lack of comprehension makes your brain say “You like Nazis, derp?” So glad we’re done, though, and again, don’t ever allow anyone to ever donate a kidney to you as you won’t appreciate the sacrifice.

I like several of the civilians, especially the three who show true heroism at the end of issue 11. I suspect millions of other readers may like a character or two from the book as well. I also like Larry Schexnayder, a Nazi sure, but also the only true secret identity in all of comic book history

Hey there! I disagree and I’ve demonstrated examples on why I disagree. You don’t think standing up for your values has any meaning if you ultimately lose. I disagree.
100
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
Typically the civilians are not the heroes of a comic book story and so this is still subverting expectations of a comic rag. Anyway, don’t ever ask anyone for a kidney if you need one. If it rejects, you will call your donor’s actions meaningless and that would just be heartbreaking.
100
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
Yo, I get it. If you attempt to shield a child from certain death, and you fail, then your action is ultimately meaningless and no one should appreciate your attempt. I mean, I don’t get it. But I get that’s what YOU believe, and I’m not trying to sway you. I believe differently.
100
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
If you give someone a kidney tomorrow, but then the recipient gets hit by a bus the next day, that doesn’t make your action meaningless. But you think it does. Which, for the tenth time, is fine. Different perspectives.
000
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
No, you’re misunderstanding your own claims and you’ve already corrected yourself once by changing up your perspective. You see it as Moore denying Malcolm heroism but I don’t. Malcolm was on his way to follow through, he already made his choice, he was already performing the act of heroism.
100
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
I mean, you make that claim that that’s what Moore is doing. But ten minutes ago you made a claim that you also said Moore supported which is now a “poor choice of words”. It’s okay that you’re developing your ideas on Watchmen, but I’m 100% confident in mine. Should we agree to disagree now?
100
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
Again, I don’t agree with your reading. You compared Malcolm’s actions as deathbed repentance but that doesn’t make sense because Malcolm would’ve had to’ve known he was about to die but he did not. So. Once again, I’ll try to agree to disagree but if you have more to add…?
100
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
You have such a negative outlook. We definitely have entirely different philosophies and as such, we read the book differently, and that’s okay. You are a person who says meaning can only be held by the winners. If you lose, then everything is meaningless. I fundamentally disagree with that.
100
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
How can it be “deathbed repentance” if Malcolm didn’t know he was going to die? He had no idea the Squid was about to drop.
000
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
That is quite a reading. Do you have Moore’s quote on that? I mean specifically about Long’s ending as I agree with the start of your paragraph.
000
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
Again, agree to disagree. I see the civilians as far more than just sympathetic cannon fodder for the story. You don’t. That’s okay, we’re allowed to see things differently. Have a good one!
000
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
Bernie does more than just shield Lil Bernie. Throughout the book, he gives Lil Bernie a place to chill, free mags to read, and even gives him his hat. These things are important. That you don’t think so is telling me that we have different perspectives here and it’s time to agree to disagree.
000
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
You see it as split second instinct but Malcolm Long knows exactly what he’s doing. He literally makes a choice to throw away his marriage to stand up for his newfound convictions. Fine was just suspended and has no reason to step in but he does anyway because it’s what’s right.
100
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
You keep saying “heroic” in quotes as if it wasn’t really but you don’t need them. Those three characters were just heroic, no quotes needed. I’ll take your lack of answer on the firefighter example as seeing my point. We agree to disagree.
100
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
If you can’t find meaning in Bernie attempting to shield Lil Bernie, then I’m happy I don’t share your perspective. If a firefighter dies while trying to save a child, and the child dies too, were the actions of that firefighter meaningless? Should we view those actions as inconsequential?
100
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
Meaningless? I don’t think so. You can think so, but it severely takes away the impact of the ending. Alan Moore was essentially telling readers that you don’t need a cape to be heroic. Sometimes all it takes is stopping someone from getting hurt or lending someone the shirt off your back.
100
battyfofatty.bsky.social @battyfofatty.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
I actually really enjoy that explanation, and it goes hand in hand with the symmetry that I constantly talk about, and so I may just end up dropping that point from the list. How do you feel about my latest claims? open.substack.com/pub/matthew2...
