59. Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade (2003, Intelligent Systems, GBA via NSO) Technically I didn’t finish this because I hit a wall with the final battle, but I really enjoyed it and intend to tackle it again at some point soon. Was a nice change of pace from the modern games [8/10]

58. Fire Emblem: Three Houses (2019, Intelligent Systems, Switch 2) Suffered somewhat from playing off the back of Fortune’s Weave, which I thought was much more successful at what it was trying to achieve. Both are messy, bloated, and unfinished, FW just came together a lot more for me [6/10]

57. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave (2026, Intelligent Systems, Switch 2) After spending such a long time with a game, my head is a bit empty when I try to appraise it. It's a messy, overly ambitious game with a ridiculous amount of bloat, but don't let the score fool you: I loved it [7/10]

56. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake (1988/2024, Switch 2) I had a great time with this, and some aspects felt surprisingly closer to the design sensibilities of later western RPGs like Morrowind than later JRPGs. Helped that the HD-2D art style is still novel for me [7/10]

That is precisely why the UK is so uncomfortable. The state through Barnett-Sewell-FPTP says there are tiers of citizenship, with Celts on top, provincial english below them, urban S.England below them, immigrants below them.

Like, don’t go searching for it but this is weird, right? Judging hypothetical future people upset about being annexed by the States
A four part thread riffing off of my tweet about travelling forward in time to see how the future UK mythologises World War 2.

Tweet 1 of 4 reads

May 27, 2126, London, capital of the State of Wessex - Governor Eliana Patel makes a perfunctory speech on the steps of the Capitol. Few turn out, and online traffic is typical of this Memorial Day. The Governor mentions the great battles London has endured, closing with the three world wars...

Tweet 2 of 4 reads

As is typical of Wessex politics, the World Wars always get an outsized mention because of London's distinction of being one of the only American cities to be bombed in all three conflicts.

This is partly out of genuine local pride, and partly to appease the state's aging nationalists.
Tweet 3 of 4 reads

But, as is the case across everywhere in the United States, Memorial Day is not something people actively think about beyond it being a day off from work.

Online, there is the standard repetition of facts and sharing of videos old and new, and the ever present, TIL Britain used to be a world power.

Tweet 4 of 4 reads

This last point inevitably leads to a barrage of comments from, "Native Anglo-Saxons," and their sympathizers about how Britain was its own nation with a rich history and culture, before inevitably going mask off about how they need to declare independence and keep, "Britain for the British."

An excerpt from the article. If your screen reader isn’t working, it reads: The National Autistic Society (NAS) says "evidence suggests there is a significant underdiagnosis of autism, particularly among women and older people"

But what if some people with a diagnosis aren't actually autistic? What if they've really been misdiagnosed?

These questions largely come from 85-year-old
Professor Dame Uta Frith - one of the key figures in autism research since the 1960s.

They go to the heart of a debate that is central to the identity of many autistic people.

49. Do Not Feed the Monkeys (2018, Fictiorama Studios, Mac, Replay) An addictive, inventive, tacky (complimentary) game that more people should check out. (See my 2099 review for expanded thoughts) [8/10]
A screenshot from Do Not Feed the Monkeys, with a pixel art aesthetic, depicting a computer screen displaying a camera feed of an old man talking to a visiting nurse in his home.
