A gift I'm excited to deliver 🧡 Orange fur is both a pain to draw and also a lot of fun! I keep finding reasons not to color my drawings, so it was fun pushing outside my comfort zone ✨

a closeup colored pencil drawing of an orange tabby, from the perspective of the cat's face leaning particularly close to the viewer or "camera"

WIP of a couple old OCs. I just needed to complain about how stupid drawing legs is. Stupid flesh trunks. I hate legs. (pose reference credit to @thedeerus on tumblr)

If you see this, post a vampire that isn’t Dracula this might be the first trend I've actually seen on here, but I wanted to chip in with one more people should know! This is Noé Archiviste from Vanitas no Carte (A Case Study of Vanitas), and he's a goober 75% of the time

started struggling with getting my cats to look right consistently, so jumping back to the basics. Mimicking the style of the Secret of Kells is what helped me finally get an understanding of shape language when I started drawing more seriously a couple years ago, and I still love the simplicity

More lunch doodling! Might be obvious my two references were under different lighting conditions, but I think I did ok with the addition of the second cat. I wish these two got along well enough in reality to actually sit like this 🫠

Redraw of an older piece with some new elements, honestly largely inspired by the resulting shapes from some closed-eyes scribbling

posted this in an earlier state, but took it down bc I locked in on details. This was so fun

impatiently waiting for my order for The Summer Hikaru Died to arrive. I really like the art style of the manga, but I really struggle to draw humans without a photo reference. I think the eyes still need work...

closeup human in progress because if I don't force myself to practice, I'll never improve. Expression is my best approximation of the human equivalent to the smug cat meme

Mash has decided I'm done drawing for right now

011

Basket @basketchaos.bsky.social · 24/08/2026

some old sketches, just because. I've long since lost most of my reference images from this time; but the first referenced a panel from the Grimoire Noir by Vera Greentea and Yana Bogatch, and the third I'm fairly certain I did referencing a picture of Lindsey Sterling.

I still don't like drawing environments because lighting without a clear reference is confusing, but I'm trying to not shy away from it entirely #pencildoodle

What better way to break in a new sketchbook at the end of pride month? I'll probably color this eventually....maybe on my lunch tomorrow, maybe in three years. The real question is, should Jax have a tail here? #tdac #theamazingdigitalcircus #ribbitrabbit #sketch #fanart

another lunch doodle! Hope Steve doesn't mind me using him as a reference

Two new doodles, plus an update to one from a couple weeks ago. (Someone thought it would be funny to put sharpie dots on the eyes of all my drawings they found at work, so I decided to try to make the most of it and change the cat's markings to make it less freaky looking)

2026 doesn't pull punches. Been trying to get myself doodling on my lunch breaks to avoid doomscrolling; here are some from today

A CHILD 👀 I realized I have....zero practice drawing kids, so decided to just start putting something to paper to see where it goes. I have a comic idea I've been mulling over for a bit but have held back on since I'm scared of drawing humans, but this feels like a strong start!

Why did I volunteer to draw a frog for a friend when I've barely even tried frogs before? I'm getting a bit of practice, but have also been requested to humanize the design a bit "furry style", which I'm not sure how to do for a frog. Will try to update, and welcome pointers! #frog #pencildoodle

sleepy puppyyy I have so much less practice with dogs than with cats, but drawing my brother's shepherd while he's sleeping is a lot less daunting 🤍 #dogdrawing #pencildoodle

Been struggling to pick up my pencil lately, but got back to some doodling again this week. Credits to my darling Potato for modeling so well

Basket @basketchaos.bsky.social · 07/09/2025

ok I'm a lot happier with this. Also need more practice with trees; they're fun!

perspective practice! trying to keep the vanishing point in mind after no real study is hard, but gotta start somewhere!

a rough sketch of couple residential buildings, framed by plain sidewalks and a couple bushes. There's a hint of a stone retaining wall on the left of the main building, and a roughly shaded paved road between the main building and the one off to the right side.
Not a lot else to describe; it started raining before I got much further, which was making my ink run.

there's something uniquely satisfying about drawing in a limited, temporary medium—I started drawing on a whiteboard back in middle school and found I really loved how I could play with the dry erase ink. Had to get one again recently just to revisit the feeling ✨

I did not know how to do this before seeing this thread, but will absolutely be removing trackers going forward. Also friendly reminder that Firefox is no longer as private a browser as it once was—I'm no expert on the best alternatives, but I like LibreWolf (an alternate independent version)

After much tedium and re-shading while I figured out how the light should fall, I've finally finished this #mushroom and #catskull #digitalart. I know it's been done a thousand times before, but I really love this type of #lifefromdeath imagery. (hoping the image uploads correctly this time ;-;)

some more recent sketches/doodles~ The tree was a lot more fun than I thought it would be, and was a great way to practice shading and perspective. The first two cats were done from reference photos of my cats, the third was just from my brain
