So DD2DA released and with it came the thing I've been waiting for since release. That's right! Ponytail with bangs. Lore-accurate Yara. I think this is actually just the perfect mental image I have of her.

As requested by a friend, I have drawn this helmet based around a fossil they suggested. But it felt a little empty, so I gave it a full suit of armour to boot, basing the colour scheme off of the forlorn hope set from vintage story! #Bronze_age #Fantasy #Armor #Character_Design #Aesthetic #Fossil

A man stands ready, armed to the teeth. His body is all but covered in intricate bronze armour with blue, white and azure cloth accentuating the set. He is wearing a strange helmet and bevor based in design on a fossil.

The assumption game! Assume things about Yara! #oc #ocsky #originalcharacter #art #fantasy #digitalart

“Post your OC and let people assume things about them”

Art of a muscular, lithe blonde woman wearing a red tunic. The tunic is bound by a belt at the waist, and a weapon sheath hands at her back hip. She carries a sword made entirely of black steel in her hand, resting the blade on her shoulders. Her other hand is placed on her hip.
Her hair is done up in a twisty ponytail. She has bangs hanging down the left side of her face, styled the same way as her ponytail.
She has brown eyes, and a scar on the right side of her face (left from the viewer’s perspective). The scar is a clean, convex cut, leading from the back corner of her jaw to the inner corner of her right eye.

every time I notice that a piece of media uses the wrong ammonite for what they're trying to depict I berate it. There's a children's book in the museum I work at. It uses an image of pleuroceras to depict promicroceras. Amateurs!

today I was reminded of how different Yara looks from her initial design. The picture on the left is by yours truly, and it's of her current design. Picture on the right is by @lalowolveralo.bsky.social! It's Yara's original look. I couldn't find my very first drawing of her.

It's an address used by companies that don't have physical offices, I guess. Problem with that: That's dogshit and doesn't justify you not paying your phone bill.

while looking for literally any way to contact discord directly I discovered that they have an address listed in the Netherlands. It's an airport bus stop. Their phone number is also not in service, but it's still on their website. Fucking shameful.

I didn’t warn others so much as my last message was telling this guy in no uncertain terms what I think of him. Within the context of that conversation it makes total sense. He was pestering me to put him back into contact with a mutual friend who wants nothing to do with him

BasiliskArt || Commissions closed || Buy my books @basiliskart.bsky.social · 24/08/2026

I tried that and the graphic content warning was removed. But guess what! I got a different violation for bullying because I called out the behaviour of the guy who falsely reported me. Discord’s support is a joke. There’s basically no way to talk to a human

This one fuckin guy I blocked months ago continues to edit his messages into threats. Now whenever I report those I GET PUNISHED. What kind of bullshit is that?

Hey, in case we’re friends on discord: automated moderation has restricted my account for today because I yet again reported his harassment of me and he gave a retaliatory false report. I cannot send messages. This is ridiculous.

It’s also not like I don’t have valid reasons. -Multiple cats in a neighbourhood form a threat to local small wildlife. -Their droppings can damage other people’s property (gardens n stuff) Not to mention they form a direct threat to my own pet. Most of my issues are with “outside” cats anyway.

“And you just have that in your house?” “Is he slimy?” (They continue to call her a he after I call her a she) Some of the more common ones are about food and if she bites. Cat people would be miserable if I asked them all that shit.

010

BasiliskArt || Commissions closed || Buy my books @basiliskart.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

Also let’s not forget that I own a lizard, and cat people would be really fucking offended if I reacted to their cat ownership the way others react to my lizard. The baffling things I’ve had people ask me about Smaug.

120

BasiliskArt || Commissions closed || Buy my books @basiliskart.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

I think it’s bizarre that people get so upset when I say I don’t like cats. It’s like I insulted them directly. I just do not like them, that doesn’t suddenly mean you’re a bad person for owning a cat or something.

The problem will never be addressed if we stay so god damn neutral on it all the time. People SHOULD be angry. They SHOULD be upset by extinctions. Anyway the CG is pretty good and outside of some minor gripes the behaviour is good too. Narration gets some stuff wrong. 5/5 el fin.

020

BasiliskArt || Commissions closed || Buy my books @basiliskart.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

I don't care if it makes you sad when the TV show ABOUT EXTINCTIONS directly says to the viewers that the actions of humanity have led to the current one. I don't care if it makes evangelicals clutch their fucking pearls like a nun at an orgy. 4/5

120

BasiliskArt || Commissions closed || Buy my books @basiliskart.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

The entire series has this spectre of a marketing department looming over it. Specific changes made purely to avoid upsetting the viewer too much. The finale has the worst of it. I don't fucking care if some people's feelings get hurt when you tell them to their faces that it's OUR FAULT. 3/5

120

BasiliskArt || Commissions closed || Buy my books @basiliskart.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

It has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the mass extinction we are currently in the middle of is the direct result of anthropogenic climate change and the ways in which we have polluted the planet. Pollution beyond oil spills and microplastics, but invasive species and diseases too 2/5

I just finished watching NBC's Surviving Earth and I was left sorely wanting by the message at the end. Language was far too neutral, too passive. It failed to properly address the fact that the current extinction is human-caused, and not just one we "control". Just say we're responsible! 1/5
