Some character design work for the upcoming chapter of At the Inn! Milli and Pryta are a couple with a baby on the way; Matthias is Milli's son from a previous relationship.
Two women hold hands, smiling at each other. The woman on the left has a child sitting on her shoulders, who looks a bit like her in miniature. The woman on the right is visibly pregnant. All three are characters in the upcoming chapter of the webcomic At the Inn.

He got the carrot for his birthday.
A large tabby cat looks up at the camera with big green eyes. He has a large, carrot-shapped, catnip-filled kicker toy pinned under his front legs.

Haven't posted art recently! I've got updated art for Cass, my minotaur warrior, and new character art for Rukhatin, my dwarven magus. Both are Pathfinder 2E characters I've been playing this fall.

I use it for off-panel speakers (like in panel 3)--must have picked it up from reading other webcomics.
A sample page from the webcomic At the Inn in which a panel 3 word balloon uses an inverted tail to indicate an off-panel speaker.

Nora is being VERY helpful with the thumbnails for the next chapter of At the Inn.
A hand holds a stack of index cards held together by a metal ring, which a tabby cat is attempting to bite. In the background is a laptop with a script document up; the beginning of a page layout has been sketched on the top index card.

I've got new pages of At the Inn posting tomorrow and Feb 10th! I'm aiming to post every other Monday (but make no promises--life's busy). Snippets from both pages are below! It's poultice-making time. You can read all of the story so far at basictelepathy.com

You're doing great."A sample panel from the webcomic At the Inn, focused on a hand, covered in angry purple veins. The hand has been smeared with teal paste and wrapped in a bandage.

For context/contrast, here's a page I probably DID draw in 2014 (one of my favorites from the book I was working on at the time, Wit's End).

Didn't draw a lot in 2014, but I'm proud of the art I did produce! #artistvsart
A 3x3 grid of images. The center image is a photo of the artist, wearing glasses and smiling in front of a colorful background. The other eight images are samples from illustrations and comics pages she drew in 2024, mostly scenes from her webcomic At the Inn.

Hi folks! I teach writing and make comics. My most recent projects are The City We Chose with TO Comix Press (as an assistant editor) and At the Inn (my webcomic). Occasionally I draw character portraits for fun. You can find more of my work at basictelepathy.com.
Character portrait of a minotaur warrior holding a very large axe, a hammer strapped to her back.Cover art for the TO Comix Press book The City We ChoseA sample page from my webcomic, At the Inn. Across four panels, we see Minerva turn away from the chicken coop, walk back toward the main building of the Inn, look up at it with a smile, and walk through the back door of the kitchen. The final shot captures a wide view of the inn itself, from the longhouse to the central tavern, kitchen, greenhouse, bridge to the guest rooms, and one of the gardens.

Huh! Didn't feel like I was that early. Glad I made the jump though (even if I don't post much)!

A recent character portrait for a upcoming Pathfinder campaign. Primary reference by @jookpubstock.bsky.social, with an additional nod to @adorkastock.com as I figured out the leg joints.

For #portfolioday I wanted to highlight some of my favorite pages from my current webcomic, At the Inn (basictelepathy.com). Update schedule is slow, with a cross-country move and a new job and all the other life things, but I'm damn proud of this work.
Andreja and Markus emerge into an impressive wine cellar, with colorful bottles filling the shelves, barrels stacked along the center of the room, and books, bottles, baskets, and bags cluttering every corner, some neatly organized and some more chaotically arranged. Andreja asks "We have to count up ALL of this?" and Markus replies "I finished a few shelves last week, but yeah, there's still a lot." A step ladder is positioned at the shelf nearest to Markus; he stretches an arm over his head as he prepares for the task at hand.
Panel 2 zooms in as Markus climbs the step ladder and begins checking the labels on various bottles. He notes "This shelf's got local wine, house mead, oh, and --" Andreja cuts him off.
"Look, I'm sorry, but I'm a wizard. I just--"
Panel 3 is a close-up on the back of Markus' head as he interjects "Shit."
Andreja, startled, looks up at him in a close-up in panel 4 "What?"In panel 1, Andreja vaults over a fallen log into a sheltered hollow. In panel 2 she peers out of her hiding place, checking that she hasn't been followed. In panel 3 she drops onto the ground with a sigh, having safely escaped with her stolen pastry. In panel 1, the chickens continue their meal and wander their enclosure as Minerva turns away from the fence. In panel 2, we see a close-up of her boots as she walks through the garden. Panel 3 is also a close-up, as she looks up at something we can't see. In panel 4, we zoom out to see the Inn, as Minerva steps inside the kitchen door. The inn is made up of several different units. To the left is a wooden wing, built in the style of a Viking longhouse. Center is the main inn building and the kitchen. From the kitchen, a greenhouse extends. A bridge joins the second floor of the main building to a secondary building, which extends out of the frame. The inn has a warm and welcoming appearance.

Updated the "Characters" page of At the Inn today. Getting the cast filled out, little by little! I've also got two page updates scheduled, for Jan 24 and Feb 7. Hoping to get back on an every-other-week update schedule to finish out this chapter. It's all coming along!

I didn't have the colors finished in time for last Thursday's update, so I posted the inks. The full-color version went up today! Pleased with how this chapter is coming together. I'm updating alternate Thursdays at basictelepathy.com!

A pair of concept illustrations for my current webcomic. Still a fan of how these came out!
A drawing of a young woman with purple hair, laying on a bench in front of a big window. The room is dark; there are stars in the sky outside. She's using a folded sweater as a pillow, looking out the window with a sad expression.A woman sits on a bench in front of a large window, with a cat in her lap. The sun is shining through, making bright patterns on the floor. At her feet is a book and a hot mug of coffee or tea. She looks content.
