Goremall's 'Graveyard Diner' is in my top three albums of all time as far as Halloween releases go. It's hard to describe how perfectly tongue-in-cheek every song feels. There's a sense of prevailing doom, but in an ironic B-movie way. Also the album cover is gloriously over-the-top.

Some type of absolutely massive cicada, presumably a tree-dwelling species native to Tennessee. I would guess it’s about 5-6 inches long.

I think last night was one of the best storm observations I’ve ever had. Got to watch this thing come to life, peak, and then begin downdraft collapse as I went inside. Was a strobe light for easily an hour.

The same storm about 45 minutes later, now much larger, well-established and continuously flashing and rumbling.

A veggie stir-fry-(ish) mix of zucchini, red onion, shallot, and carrots in chicken broth and butter. Some extras like garlic powder, basil, oregano and a couple others were added in.

I visited both 'The Pentacle Store' and 'New Moon Rising Gifts & Goods' in Knoxville, @rosecrow.bsky.social territory. Visit both of them! They each have their own strengths and wonderful vibe. Both owners are great to talk to. Excellent energy from each shop and I wound up finding goodies at both!

Been an exhausting week but the nature sightings have been gourmet chef’s kiss

Two female deer (does) stand in the neighbor’s yard having a grassy breakfast. One doesn’t care I exist, but the other isn’t as confident.

No idea what kind of mushroom this is but it looked badass. Shroom season is in full swing for my service parks!

My attempt at Chicken Marengo (Napoleon’s favorite dish supposedly?) turned out more like Chicken With Turkey Gravy. 🙃 Not sure exactly what went wrong but when the roux looked more like a frittata, I became concerned. It doesn’t taste bad, it just tastes like I homemade a 95c gravy packet.

Chicken drumsticks with Marengo sauce overtop. Don’t mind the chicken juice going on underneath, this plate was full of a dozen drumsticks before I portioned out into my lunches this week. I may have forgotten to drain the plate before saucing my portion lol

What was supposed to be a kind of watery and sticky roux wound up a completely non-sticking, pancake or frittata-esque rue. Oops.

New album from Venturer, 'Nocturnal', is very underwhelming. It lacks much of the experimentation and variety that his last, 'Eternal Damnation', was full of. That variety was what made the previous album so great. 'Nocturnal' sounds alright but feels repetitive and struggles to find itself.

Finished a four-hour ESRI training that actually took me about 6 hours, called “Working with Charts and Reports”. This is the expected final output.
