Probably ranks last on my list of playoff disappointments the past four years. 1) 2023, truly choked I will never get over it my whole life 2) 2024, getting owned by the Mets sucks 3) 2022, lost to the better team but were right there 4) 2025, barely lost to the better team

Could see him as a Mariner (Geno is a free agent) or a Yank (I think he expressed interest in them) though the Mets might pursue him hard since none of their third base guys have worked out, they might lose their franchise first baseman, and his team in Japan (Yakult Swallows) are the Mets again.

honestly this year stings a lot less than last year to me. Last year they lost to our division rival who snuck into the playoffs, this year they lost to the reigning world champs with a pitching armada that we went pitch for pitch against and simply got outsmarted. It is what it is.

I also think the larger postseason, in a way, makes the regular season mean more, too? If only the first seeds make it to the WS, you probably know that your team has no chance around July at the latest. The extra spots make it so that more fanbases can stay engaged longer.

I'm torn. The original idea was just that both pennant winners were legitimate champions in their own right, and the WS was an exhibition match....and there are times I think it should just be the first seeds playing in the WS again with no larger postseason, but that's how you get 1964.
