Yea on reflection I can make a better island now, and am looking forward to where this will go!

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

Picked up ACNH again. I lost a lot of momentum after forgetting to transfer my island when I moved over to the Switch 2. I've now got my island to 3 stars and KK has visited. I forgot how many cool little events there are in this game! #nintendo #animalcrossing #acnh #gaming #switch

I shared this with friends on discord so thought I'd share it here as well, this is my original copy of Pokémon Heartgold. I've had this since it released in 2010, hence why the cardboard box has faded a bit, still I don't mind, it shows it's had a life! #retrogaming #pokemon #retrogames #nintendo

Genuinely think they're underrated games. They have their faults but they did so much right too!

I think only now the GBA has had the respect it deserved. Although it existed for about 8 years, the DS was released 4 years into its life, and developers pivoted to that instead. Would have been interesting if the GBA had more space to breathe, would like to have seen what could've been achieved!

With Red defeated, my latest playthrough of Pokémon Gold is complete. My biggest takeaway from this run: - Piloswine was my MVP - Togetic performed way better than expected - Herracross was fun but hard to use Here is my final team: #pokemon #pokemongold #retrogaming #gameboy #nintendo

My latest Pokémon TCG pickups: I've been after an Ancient Mew for years since I no longer have my childhood one. Articuno is my favourite of the legendary birds, Blastoise is my favourite starter and this Piplup full art is top tier! 😊 #pokemon #pokemontcg #pokemoncards

I lost count of the amount of times I'd spend the afternoon trawling through the Argos Catalogue, making mental notes of all gaming stuff I wanted to get. I wanted a Gameboy so much id spend ages on that page, hoping my mum would get the hint 😅 she did in the end!

They look incredible! Clear console aesthetic is unmatched

I got very lucky and found a complete copy in a charity shop for £1.50! Personally I have more nostalgia for the PS1 version, I only found out about this version much later on!

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

It can, yes and personally, I think they look pretty good too! 😊

The price of gaming is becoming completely unattainable for most. I remember when, a couple years into a consoles life, you'd be able to pick up some really good deals. A year after I got my GameCube on release day, I got a PS2 with Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain and Sands of time for like £180.

Some of my most recent Pokémon pick ups and pulls. Deerling and Sawsbuck is one of the best connected full arts I've seen so far! Thrilled to pull Bastiodon as it's my favourite fossil from Gen 4

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

They look in beautiful condition as well. Congrats! 😊

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

Very eye opening 😅 obviously caused a lot of discussion over whether this generation of console should now be considered retro, I think we're getting to a stage where we need to be more nuanced with our classifications although trying to get the community to agree on what would be a challenge 😅

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

I missed these types of over engineered accessories to have to get around the limitations of hardware, modern day stuff is so boring in comparison! 😅 I remember having a similar type of thing for my Gameboy Colour, albeit much more slimmed down.

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

I've never played the Sega kart racers but have always been intrigued! The last kart game other than Mario Kart I played was Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 😅

Funny that isn't it? 😂 They'll say anything if they think it will convince customers to side with them

I hope my games room can be as tidy and organised as yours one day! 😅

Finding those moments you can take for yourself is so important, sometimes they act as islands of rest in the chaos of life and is a skill in itself to learn. Glad you make the most of them. 😊

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

I have so many games on at the moment, as time goes on I'm becoming more sure I have ADHD 😅 I'm working on 5 different characters on WoW classic, half way through a Pokémon Gold play through and dipping into Go Go Town on the switch 2 😊 how about you?

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Just about as good of a Sunday morning as you can get!

Here's a piece of pc gaming history I found while having a sort out. My original copy of World of Warcraft. It has a proper game manual. The catalogue showing Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 was still available to purchase and check out those system requirements! 😆 #retrogaming #pcgaming #worldofwarcraft

You've just given me a massive blast from the past, I remember playing Sonic R on the PC. I remember being introduced to it while I was at a sleepover, we stayed up all night playing it! 😅

110

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

I have a few 😅 World of Warcraft Classic, Pokémon games (mostly Gen 1 to 4), the GameCube in general but Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure 2, Smash Melee & Rogue Squadron 2. N64, Gameboy / GBA, DS, 3DS. Take your pick 😅 What's yours?

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Perfect, gives me something to watch while I work from home today. 😊

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

This is literally all I want. If they ever bring DD style racing back to the series, I'll fall over with excitement.

010

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

That's wild considering Pokerus is 3 times rarer! 😅 I have my fingers crossed for you that you get your shiny soon. 😊

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Incredible game, took everything I loved about Diamond and Pearl and made it better. Giratina genuinely seemed menacing!

110

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

They look great! Wish we'd get officially colours like these. 😊 I firmly believe peak product design was the late 90s - early 00s when we had coloured transparent versions of things!

010

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

I think like most things, if you look after them the worst thing you'll ever need to do is change the battery. They're also a product built before total reliance on the internet which I think extends their life. I doubt the Switch/2 will be in the same state 20 years from now unfortunately.

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

I've always felt that the leap from N64 to GameCube is the most natural compared to any other console leap... Hope that makes sense! 😅

010

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

Absolute work of art, isn't it?! There are so many awesome-looking full arts which go under the radar. Would be great to for them to get more love, but it also keeps the prices reasonable 😅

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

I have the original silver DS, a white DS Lite and the yellow and brown DSi XL. The DSi is the one I choose to use, but the DS Lite has held up pretty well all these years! My original DS has been retired and is a display piece, still works though! 🙂

Which starter did you pick? 😊

110

Papa Ben @basainty.bsky.social · 28/02/2026

Although I have the original cartridges and an Analogue Pocket, but there is something nice about playing these on modern Nintendo hardware. Obviously, I chose the best starter.. 😏 #pokemon #nintendo

The Andy Serkis ones are great, he's very good at making you feel like you're in the story. The other ones narrated by Rob Inglis feel more that you're being told the story like you're around a fire. 2 different styles, both great!
